Performance Tanks in Chapter 5
I was getting amazing performance until Chapter 5. Now game always runs at inconsistent frame rates with terrible frame pacing. If I set a frame rate cap, the game will also always run below that cap. This behavior persists regardless of DLSS resolution or other game settings. Really weird! Makes the game virtually unplayable.

Specs:

RTX 5090
9800X3D
32GB DDR5-6000

Same here with similar specs. It's almost unplayable.

Glad to know it's not just me!

Hi, support from dev team here. We want to look into the issue.

If possible, it would help if you can provide us with a video of the game running in chapter 5.

Ill send you both a DM where you can drop the video.

Hello,
I'm getting the same issue with a similar config.
The 1% low is getting randomly to 30 - 40 when I'm having around 130 fps, which make feel the game laggy

I pushed through to Chapter 6 to see if it was something related to the environment/assets in Chapter 5, but I'm having the same issues. Interestingly problem goes away if you look at the ground, so maybe related to asset streaming? (No real idea what I'm talking about though).

Just FYI. I was able to get somewhat smoother performance by rolling back to the previous Nvidia game ready driver and not using any frame rate cap. With 120 fps cap, frame rate is still wildly inconsistent, even though fps without cap is typically in the 150-170 fps range (4k, DLSS Quality, Ultra).

Same specs (5090 + 9800X3D), crazy stuttering started in chapter 5.

5090 + 9800X3D, the stuttering is really bad for me too.

Started at Chapter 5. Had it at the beginning of chapter 6, it went away after a system reboot but within 10 minutes of game play, the issue was back. Seems to have gotten worse the further I've progressed.

Can trade my 4070, the game runs perfectly fine at 4K max

Hi, thanks to those who sent us a video of the problem, it was helpful.

We are still investigating the problem and would require further information.
The more data we gather, the more we can confirm the issue.

If you are impacted by the problem, could you tell us:

1- the exact model of your GPU (For example "ASUS TUF 5090 OC" or "MSI Gaming Trio 5080")

2- The model of your Motherboard (For example "ASUS ProArt X870E")

3- The PCI Express Bus as well as the Resizable BAR status.
(For an Nvidia GPU, this information can be found in the NVIDIA Control Panel, under Help > System Information then there is one line for Resizable BAR (Yes or No) and one line for Bus (PCI Express 16X Gen4 or Gen5)

Pls post your answers here.

Thank you for your help

Happening on my 7800xt as well, playing in 4k no problem 60-90fps then chapter 6 getting like 25-50 fps. TAAU balanced setting fixes this but why is framerate so bad in this chapter?
