Is it me or is the scale completely wrong for the main character?
I was watching gameplay and she is half the height of a door which would make her barely 3' 6" I can't be the only one that noticed this. She feels SMALL compared to everything in the game.

I mean once you leave the manor much of the world becomes distorted with magic and reality clashing
It's called Southern Gothic aesthetic fyi.

Ever played Fable? That is highly stylized visuals to feel like a storybook. The visuals in this game are highly stylized to feel like a folk tale from the deep south. So that sort of thing is intentional.
It fits the surreal / fairy tale aesthetic of the game. Have you seen/read Alice in Wonderland?

It's also very common in platformers, because realistic environments are often not suitable for the game mechanics. Ceilings are too low, objects are too small and close together, etc.

Yes... worth mentioning that Alice is Victorian Fantasy, not Southern Gothic, and it takes place in England.

So the entire folk tale has a very down the rabbit hole feel and you are supposed to feel small (thematically) as the world warps and twists around you. Hazel is caught in a world she thought she knew but is completely undone around her, which not only makes her feel small, makes her look small too with it's towering trees and creatures. It's actually a point with thematic resonance.

I'm talking about even in the opening cutscene when she is talking to her mom. The kitchen cabinets are like 6' off the ground. Normal height is 4' 6". You can't even reach those let alone use them. The characters feel small always. It's the I can't put my finger on why this is weird feeling, and then I noticed... Why is she barely half as tall as a door? It's like the environmental artist and the character artist never compared notes.
It's called bad character creation, and comparing this with Fable is a Sin..... Fable had a great story and was innovative at it's time and the technology was limited. this is... hmmm this is.... I'm trying to say some thing positive here..... this is..... South of Midnight I guess =/

Sure, like asking why an anime character’s eyes take up 50% of their face and have no nose half the time… “bad character creation”? I don’t agree with that at all. It’s a stylization choice but I’ve played Fable & Alice Madness Returns a lot so I don’t notice at all.

And it's right the only thing I disagree is that those were good written games, the wrting in this one is........ ISH either you love it or hate it but this is no Fable and definetly not Alice Mcgee, enter at your own will :jeanthink::freijasip:

Yeah but no one here is talking about story. To stay on topic we’re talking about visual stylization & perspective. Which Fable and Alice MR have similar surreal and dis-proportional designs.

I’ve played all of them, they’re all great for different reasons and have their own criticisms too.

who knows?

3'6'' means nothing, it could be 2 meters in real measurements. nobody knows, it's impossible to know.

Well, we know what a standard door height is and he can see where she stands in relation to it, so... we know.
People complain about anything, holy crap.
I agree with OP that for most of the game Haze is slightly too small. Pretty sure that was very much intended by the devs.
