This game is a surprise
A brilliantly crafted world, cool characters, great dialogue, mystery, atmosphere, simple gameplay, exploration.
The story’s good too – I’m in Act 5 now.
For me, this is currently the surprise of the year. I’m playing it on Game Pass and the game is just awesome.
Reviewers said the gameplay loop gets boring towards the end, but I’ll see for myself. Seriously, it’s worth playing if you have Game Pass.
A great new IP, something fresh – the game sucked me in like quicksand, especially with the exploration and upgrade hunting.

the game reviewers musta been playing on game journalist mode, its about as repetitive as doom is. theres a good 5 or 6 different enemy types that each have their own way to be defeated quickly or you can just spam X and get good at dodging its not hard combat like a souls game by any stretch but its also not soo easy you could turn your monitor off and win (unless you lowered the difficulty below default)
The amount of handcrafted detail in this game is really something special, coupled with the unique setting. I thought combat improved quite a bit from chapter 5 onward, once certain options unlock for handling multiple enemies. It becomes a bit more strategic.

Loving it. The story, visuals and acting is the best part of the game. The combat is pretty fun too, but it's kind of just thrown in there but the visuals and story more than makes the game worth it. Im playing on gamepass and breezing through it on regular difficulty. Highly recommend.

the main thing holding me back from buying this is that i keep hearing that the gameplay is disappointing

Maybe i'll get it on a sale eventually

I'm really loving this game as well, extremely well written and introspective story with phenomenal visuals. I will definitely buy this for a replay later as I have the Gamepass version now

That’s also because for some reason, a lot of reviewers are comparing the gameplay with that of souls-like games. Which is not what this is.

I assume it’s because of the sudden hype and popularity of that genre that people are having trouble judging a regular action style game now. At least, that’s what my guess would be.

I personally think the gameplay is pretty good and fun.

But you don’t own the game and haven’t played it so how do you know?

Can confirm this is a lovely game.
I think it’s very easy to hate something because someone else says they didn’t like it but I don’t really understand why you think positive comments are bots?
Could you explain that a bit more, please?

If Gamepass is an option for you (maybe you want to try something else on there), I'd just play it on there. It's not that long of a game and the gameplay isnt anything to write home about either, but it's nonetheless a fun game for a couple evenings. Graphics, artstyle and environments are beautiful to look at, at least to me.

I'm not sure I would buy it as a full price title, but its a solid GamePass title.

My first impression is noticing the art style and animation. It looks unique but not enough to garner interest for a purchase. Rather, I will binge watch someone playing it on youtube for the story considering people saying the gameplay is one of its weaker features. Feels like a buy later or on sale type of game to me.

"It's worth playing if you have game pass" so you're saying it's not worth a buy? Got it, thanks.
It's a great little game for sure. I think it will end up going down as a cult classic.

I assume it has more to do with the enemies you're fighting. Maybe they think large enemies like that are a trademark of a souls-like?

Not who you were talking to, but never forget that Xbox exists. If early access is playing on there without an additional cost, like their previous game. Then I intend to play through gamepass, and then buy the full thing here. Unless I'm mistaken and early access has already ended?
It's fantastic! I love the writing so much. Seriously, genius-level writing here. I wish every game could be written this well.
