Just Finished On Gamepass
I gotta say, Compulsion has something here. I really hope this isn't a one off. I like Hazel a lot, I like the lore a lot, I love the soundtrack, I love the setting, and I love the art style.

I was already impressed by what I was seeing, then I got to the first boss and the music was an Americana folk style song about the boss's story. I don't think I can put into words the feeling I got when i realized that. It just felt really good. The game didn't leave it at that either, every level had custom music, and often lyrics that told you the story of the area or person.

The combat is smooth and feels good. It's not very complex, but it is very rewarding to use all your tools. The combat is an 8/10 and it's the weakest part of the game. If the game was a few hours longer, the combat would get old, but at it's length, the combat is kind of perfect. It's not complex cuz you don't have the game time to learn the complexities.

It's been a while since I played a new IP and was left wanting more in a good way. Well done Compulsion.

This game is a piece of art that will stay with me for some time.

I haven't finished it yet. Is the ending kind of open-ended to allow a sequel?

No, they don't leave anything from this story to be taken into another game. however, it's still the origin story of Hazel and there could absolutely be other tales to tell with her as the MC.

That'd be cool. The world is interesting enough to have spin-offs

Its open ended in the way that she is now an established weaver with plenty to be done in the world. The direct story of her trying to find her mother is wrapped up, but there are plenty of other critters and hurts for her to deal with in the world.
"The combat is an 8/10" and it's just button mashing one combo and dodging.
There is something special about this game. A sequel maybe be nice.

That’s just your opinion though.
It appears to wound you that people enjoy this game.

That is disingenuous to say. Your weapon only has the 5 move combo, but perfect dodging is an attack, holding Y is an attack, unraveling is an attack, Possessing enemies, Pulling, pushing, freezing, Jump attack, and dodge attack are all attacks that you can and should weave together to form combos.
While the environments are nice, every combat encounter is the exact same. You always know when you're about to enter their little combat arenas. It's so repetitive and unimaginative. As a game, much like Compulsion's other game, South of Midnight is lacking. In fact, I'd argue that the gameplay here is worse than We Happy Few. I found that game much more interesting to actually play.
I think they had good ideas but alot of the writing/voice acting/story/gameplay just felt really poorly done. Especially the beginning of the game the voice acting direction was so bizzare. It was like 10 different takes from 4 different days of recording that they stiched together. Sometimes the characters voice was appropriate for the context of the scene then 3 seconds later shes all happy sounding despite her mother taken in a hurricane.

The actual game part of the game was just so bare bones. Probably would have worked better as an interactive movie

So you also dislike Uncharted then? That's fine but this type of game has an audience clearly because Uncharted has 4 entries and a spin off but those games are focused more on plot while this game is focused more on it's characters and their feelings (since it has a psychological slant to the whole thing), which to me, makes for a better story overall.

Wow that is easy 8/10. I wish I was at school again. Theres nothing it just flows and everything with it. Probably UE4's default AI, it just keeps coming at you.
