Is combat decently challenging?

I saw a review that was generally positive but said the combat was very easy and enemies provided little challenge. Is that true? Can difficulty be adjusted?

the difficulty is good, it's not too easy... i was worried that the game was too easy and enemies are too weak, as soon as i encounter bullet spongie enemies the game reached a balanced difficulty, i hate when videogames that gives you a lot of ammo put enemies that take too few bullets, this game didn't fall in this... is pretty balanced
