Costs 2.4k yen/~16$ atm.
Will likely be a bit cheaper than Kagura Release and you can support author directly this way :)
Awesome, I didn't know the raw version was available on DLSite... I wanted to buy "Goblin Burrow 3 the fable" on DLSite and for "Demon roots" I'd love to buy it there, but I'm afraid I won't understand the story fully even though I can speak some japanese, but as I'm not fluent, I'm worried about not understanding everything and I'd love to get everything uncensored. I believe DLsite being for japanese, the game will get censored until its Kagura release on Steam, right? Of course we'd need the patch but it's better than nothing.
I could still buy the game and support the creator and get it on steam once it's available unless we can get the english version from DLsite once it's released, but I'm not familiar with this plateform as I just created an account without buying anything there, I just have a DMM /Fanza account where I bought some new OAV Visual Novel there!
As for purchasing from DLsite - shouldn't be any harder than DMM/Fanza. In fact compared to Fanza/DMM the connection is much more stable so you are less likely to get webpage loading timeouts and such.
I personally don't mind supporting Kagura occasionally, but if game is really enjoyable I usually seek more direct ways to support author.
Steam has huge commission and Kagura will take another big chunk so not much will end up with author.
Hello and thanks for your answer! I really appreciate it!
I noticed that some games have been translated or have an English version on DLSite.
So I was wondering if the DLSite version of "Demon Roots" will have an English translation when the game is available on Steam or will I have to pay extra to be able to get the English version of the game as a patch or by purchasing the game again via Kagura or Steam?
I have seen some incredibly expensive games like the Goblin Burrow 1,2 & 3 series. I especially wanted to buy the last one "The fable" but it hurts me to pay so much (11000yen) without counting all the extra paid patches that come with the months.
Do you often buy games there? You could add me to your friends so we can discuss it via the chat and why not discuss "Demon Roots" so you can help me if I buy it in Japanese.
The presentation on DLSite has nothing to do with Steam or Kagura. It looks great and it really makes me want to buy it.
It's like King Exit, I have it on Steam and I saw the presentation on DLSite which looks even better than the original. Has the game received any updates since it was removed from steam?
They will have own version and patches and maybe own new bugs too but they usually make rather quality work to at least remove the bugs they make.
That being said game is unlikely to get too many extra patches on JP since I think author concluded his game some time ago already and it's likely close to final by now, so you shouldn't be missing anything.
Author supported King Exit for ~2 years actively and Demons Roots are approx that far in as well with latest patch being june of current year.
That being said IF JP does get more patches - Kagura usually does not update those unless those don't require effort on their part.
2) DLsite will allow you to fully access the games forever with latest versions BUT it's best used with games that are on JP, the ones with english translation are all available elsewhere and better bought from people who translate them to have guaranteed support with them.
H games are all usually translated by a few teams - Mangagamer, JAST usa, Kagura Games... and a few smaller companies.
3) The DLSite games are usually NOT compatible with English translation versions unless it's made by fan translations.
Reason for that is big companies never release separate translation patches, they come with translation already integrated. You can technically try to find the files where text is held but it will likely cause issues if applied to more recent JP patches.
4) As for King Exit - there have been 2 minor patches in 2022, mostly minor fixes and the most major change is scene skip/battle speedup options.
I think the King Exit was patched till the end other than that. Author stopped doing patches at ~2017 end.
However if you noticed that game looks better on DLSite - then it's likely missing the very last patch of 2017 which improved models and added a few H Scenes IIRC.
5) Regarding censorship - all JP titles are always censored on DLSite.
All translation company projects decide if they want to get game uncensored themselves or not.
Some JP games who plan on western market often draw art uncensored by default and put a censorship layer so they can share their default art easily. Some don't bother drawing censored parts in detail since it's a waste of time.
Some translation companies bother to redraw even from 0 and some don't. So you never know how it will be handled.
Especially with what you would consider main cast.
But for a dark game with slavery/torture being main themes it's certainly not the most unhappy one if we keep spoilers to a minimum...
Although that depends on the perspective, I guess... maybe someone would prefer being a mindless slave rather than living freely in world such as that.
Is freedom and being in control of yourself always a good thing is a big question that games such as this one raise.
Feel free to add me on Steam if you want.
Concerning the happy ending, there are several games that frustrated me a lot because it is not possible to have a good ending and the heroines become sex slaves of the villains even if they had fought together they would have won easily.
I prefer when we are given the choice (like in "Claire's Quest" or even better in "Fleeting Iris" or "Zefina") and it is mentioned on the negative choices are fictional choices that do not exist in the real life of the heroine but could have existed if she had chosen otherwise.
In many Eroge games, the heroines can become real nympho when they discover the pleasures of sex and when we see how they are treated by the others (Country girl Keiko, or President Yukino) even if it's games, it can make your heart ache, but at the same time you shouldn't buy these games if you don't want to sell your soul to the devil.
There is a game that particularly annoyed me, I don't remember its title but it was in Japanese. There are 3 girls from a girls' school who are the students' representatives and they fight against male delinquents from a boys' school, and even if they are strong as 3, they will end up becoming sex slaves after having been humiliated and tasted sex, especially with the help of a kind of viscous plant with several tentacles which is used to give pleasure to the protagonists)
There are also Visual Novels like Natsuki who is a prisoner and has to accept her condition to pay for the care of her sick little brother.
I don't know if there are worse, but I would be tempted to know what there is as a game of the genre.
At the moment, I'm playing the "Goblin Burrow" games (there are 3 of them) and I don't understand why the price for each one is double that of other AAA games, indeed, you have to pay about 11000 yen to acquire it and the DLC/patches are not free.
