Ridley surviving Sasarai battle?
Does anyone know if it's possible for Ridley to survive the battle with Sasarai?
Sometimes I'm like close but then Jowy or Sasarai kicks his ass loll

Yes, he can survive. Edit his unit to have a cavalry and just move him away. Fire Spear and hoping for good RNG can also help.

Its possible. I think out of... probably three dozen playthroughs over the years I managed it once by sheer dumb luck (Ridley more or less crit EVERY unit that came at him and took no damage).

He can survive until your other guys come in, his unit seems to have a higher chance than usual to Critical, he's wiped out a few units by himself, including Jowy lol. Once your guys come in you'd need to move a unit with Huan as close to Ridley as possible if he's hurt and your stronger units to clear a path for him. He just needs to move next to one of your guys for your side to win.

You can't edit his unit before the battle, as I tried that days ago, so his unit will be empty and you'll depend on RNG. Here's what I did:

Edited Flik's unit with Huan and Chaco, and start moving fast towards him but was kind of far, so do this with Kiba's unit instead since he spawns one square closer. On the first turn when Ridley is alone, attack the guy on his left and hope for a crit and survive the other three units attacking you. On the next turn just move Ridley to the left where the enemy unit you just killed was.

Keep him healed, and you just need him to finish his turn close to an allied unit and the battle ends.

This is just for a flex btw, you would instead go on a rescue mission to get Ridley if he loses. No achievement either.
It's funny because I didn't know he could die until my third playthrough way back.

Now I have him dying off once my units arrive. Just another minor part has me wishing you could soft rest like on the PlayStation.

There's a reset in the settings of the game.

Yes, but on original hardware soft rest would take you back to the title/load screen faster. You don't need to wait for the game to allow access to the settings menu.
