However, it feeling more authentic or realistic is against the player because Tai Ho goes first and won't "take the piss" as often in S2.
This is the first time playing S2, I think I tried back in the day but I felt it didn't live up to the standards of S1 and pulling me in with the characters so think I gave up early on back in the 90's haha.
That is 1 thing that drives me nuts about the game, its always the AI going first, never the player. Does this change in other S games?
I only did it to recruit the characters, and then never touched it again.
I think thats a good thing haha are the follow up games just as good?
I liked that they continued the optional to win fights and they felt more secret. I liked the lotto. I liked the introduction of the new races. I liked the graphics. I thought all the 3 or 4 heroes were well done. I enjoyed the little bit of character development we got for the supporting cast.
The perspective changed from Top down to more 3D, which some didn't like. The camera angles do try to hide some secrets which I don't like. The story does feel kind of rushed at the end. The music is still great. The skill system changes were also great.
For Suikoden 4, I tried playing it first and got sick from the camera and motion. So I set it aside. Then I played it again and it hooked me, but it took some dedication to get to like it. The naval combat was fun, but there was too little of it.
I always felt that by the time you get your feet under you and ready to enjoy the game, it ends. So there's potential for an enjoyable game there and the mechanics are fun, but you just never get a good chance to experience it.
The world map being a giant ocean was also a turn off.
2) always savescum lol
and yes s2 gambling feels worse in comparison, but i think thats because how easy s1 was.
