Pahn Vs Teo
Anyone find this 'harder' on Hard mode? I died 4 times but in fairness took a risk with a Special attack and got punished on my last go.

I just don't recall it being so punishing.

Yes, Pahn was levelled up, had a Ninja garb, weapons sharpened etc.

It's not harder in hard mode. It was pretty tough to win before.

It's totally possible to do everything right and still lose.

This is why you save.

... everything is harder in hard mode ... why do you even ask that. all mobs and bosses have higher stats ... so ... yes ... it is harder.

tho, you cant do much wrong in terms of 1v1 battles if you listen what your opponent says.
aka doing the stone, paper cissor thing flawless. i honestly do not understand how you could lost 4 times ... he´s pretty easy to read according to what he does next ...

I don't think anyone has definitive proof of what exactly changed from Hard mode, but I can tell you Hard mode does not feel anymore difficult than the original PS1 game by any measurable degree.

If you have sufficiently leveled Pahn to at least 32, upgraded his weapon to lvl 12, and given him the most up to date equipment, including two guard rings, it's virtually impossible to lose.

Choose defend against his special or attack
Choose attack against his defend

Even though Special is the counter to Attack, you don't want to make the exchange, just eat it with a defend, unless he attacks you 8x in a row, you're going to end up winning if you get all the other calls right.

I've played this game dozens of times... Playing the game naturally and without some obscene grinding or min-maxing... the fight is always easy to lose.

It's not even worth arguing over. Just save and do it over and over til you win. You can just defend every round and win eventually.

This too. I once perfected Teo in 3 rounds because the dumb bastard kept going Wild Attack.

He does say something special if you beat him and take no damage. Including damage from him attacking and you defending. If he does 0 damage to you, he says something different.
DirtyMick 3 月 13 日 下午 2:57
Once I went back and leveled him and geared him up, it was very easy. Mightve just gotten lucky with the decisions though.

Managed to beat it with my Pahn at Lvl.30 with a Lvl.9 weapon on Hard. Just use a guide, though they did change some of the wording so you may have to make an educated guess here and there.

Basically the issue I had my first time was Teo would just keep attacking, and while Pahn's Special did OK damage in return, they would KO each other by the end, which the game just counts as Pahn losing. So I had to reset and get Teo to do at least one to two Specials you can counter so that you don't end up with the same health if he ends up attacking the rest of the fight. For the record, this was with Pahn at 30, weapon 12, and as much defense as he could have (Headband or gear, the 10+ def one, Ninja Garb, Guard Rings).
Exactly. If you defend you'll quickly die.

I had an easy time myself, but I think it was pure dumb luck (Teo only went for Desperate-Attack and Defend).

I did use the old trick of fighting the war battle with just magic attacks. It was an old rumor that doing so increased Teo's chances of going for Desperate Attacks. I don't think there was ever any data-mining to prove that affected the duel at all. I always thought it was just a bit of a troll by someone, since losing mages isn't hard in war battles when they're countered. Might be the placebo effect, but ever since I started doing that, I've never had to re-try a battle against Teo with Pahn. Then again, I've always leveled him to at least 30, maxed his weapon level, and gave him the best armor possible for that fight.
I remember in the old one you just needed to equip 9 earth rune pieces (my hero has 20 water rune pieces and I have Pahn with like 12 earth rune pieces), every PROT rune piece you get, you can farm some before leaving Gregminster. Back then, and I am not sure if it's still this way, but you did not need to win. You only needed to survive several rounds before Teo lets him go.

This is not true at all.
I just got past this, the only reason I won is because in the latter half he would not stop defending lol.
I've looked up like 8 guides for this duel and the previous one and NONE of them had all the proper phrases, the one posted earlier in this thread was the closest yet, but each one had at least 5 that I saw that were not on ANY list, some not even close. Whoever making these guides on other sites need to step up their game lol.

Nothing more to add.

Go to the blacksmith.
Equip him with the best possible equipment.
at least 30+ LEVEL.

And READ what Master Teo is trying to "say" what hes going to do next :D
If you cant handle it anyways. I already posted what happens, when he says this or that.
Marius 3 月 15 日 下午 7:06
What I did was using Magic three times. Then only Defend during the duel. He did Special > Defend > Attack > Defend > Defend > Special > Special. And it was over ;) This was on third try before I only picked Defend.
