This game has a huge roster. That's part of the "game". You're not going to 100% many games, especially turn-based JRPGs, playing blindly. You set up a bad expectation.
I don't try to 100% most JRPG's, because in most JRPG's 100% doesn't actually matter. And if they do, most of them don't lock required content behind missable cutscenes, and they sure as HELL don't lock them behind timers, what the ♥♥♥♥? Thank god the remaster at least lets you turn THAT off.
In any other game where 100% matters you can always go back and do the things before the "point of no return", like you could in Suikoden 1 (and I believe every future Suikoden game). This is the only game with a truly "missable" recruit.
Soooo, why did you play it blind? That's how I always play Suikoden. I missed like 20 guys my first time. Just play again WITH a guide and get everyone. They shouldn't change the game because of how you choose to play it.
I didn't say they should change the game, I said it was a stupid idea. I know this is a novel concept for the modern age, but you can accept that a thing exists and not be happy with it.
Git gud. Toodles.
Clive isn't Isekai. He's not from another world, he's from another country that developed guns as a weapon. Hell, the game even goes to lengths to explain why most guns are trash weapons, citing issues with accuracy, reload, etc... So its not as if they harm the high-fantasy aspect. I mean, considering the gun is sorta alive, they only add to it. I say that as someone who generally HATES guns in fantasy games/settings.
- very small recruitment window
- wrong dialog choice
- random appearance
- perma-death
This is pretty much a staple in the series like the 108 chars. I personally don't like that design, but that is apart the issue. It is like walking in a steak reasturant and complaining about the lack of vegan options.
S2 is more obtuse but the Old Books list their appearances even more clearly, not sure what op is on about with isekai though. While the guns are very much new tech, the tech itself is explained in-universe.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but stopping the clock was added so you can get all the scenes with Eliza right(I think that was here name, dang it's only 20+ years since I played the OG)?
Precisely, once you get Clive, the rest of his story has zero incidence into recruiting all 108 stars of destiny... OP is just a noob lol
It's also easy to miss.
However, in a game like Suikoden, I recommend using a guide if you are the type to get upset at missing stuff.
It's my opinion that when you have a huge roster part of the game is collecting the roster. Having missables is one of the few mechanics you can have in such gameplay.
