Suiko 2 save data hints at possible Suiko 3 remake?
So I just finished Suikoden 2 and as usual game never fails to impress. One thing I noticed is that at the end it asks if you would like to save your completed game data...ok pretty standard for games but after I do that I go to load up that completed data to potentially start a new game plus or what have you and it is not with the rest of my save data. I try and start a new game and see if I can load that save data and no such luck. In fact there is nowhere that I can discern that you can even view this saved data inside the game much less load it up. It got me thinking that either their will be some DLC that uses it at some point or if we are real lucky we might get that Suikoden 3 remaster as well. Any thoughts? Or has anyone else noticed this?

The consensus is this is for unlocking the gallery. While it's theoretically possible we'll see a Suikoden 3 remaster/port it's not likely.

Maybe. But a completed game save file wouldn't really have been necessary for that...and why would it ask to update the gallery. if I choose no will I have no entry in the endings gallery...idk I'm just out here trying to keep hope alive.

The gallery literally says "A completed save file is required" Or something very similar.
If this game sells well enough we MAY get future ports/remasters of Suikoden 3-5, but I'm not holding my breath.

The sellings are solid, but you shouldnt expect anything. KONAMI is working on these things quite different to other gamer creat000rs

I can't find the link now, but one of the guys that used to work at Konami (NA branch) mentioned on X/Twitter that Suikoden 3 would likely have to get a remake rather than a port because the way it was coded makes it extremely difficult to port (similar reasons why these remasters were delayed for so long; code is so old and difficult to understand that they basically had to consult with people who were still around at Konami that worked on these games from way back). It's also one of the reasons why Suikoden 3 never released in the EU on the PS2 originally; the way text was formatted in the game's code made it difficult to localize in various languages, so Konami basically gave up due not thinking it'd be financially worth it.

That just sounds like bs'ing to just mask "we lost the source code, lol"

I dont think it is a case, nowadays we have AI, AI can help those game company on development work, it is just the excuse of Konami.

AI doesn't magically do everything.
The other three Suikoden games would need complete remakes as they were AWFUL. Remasters wouldn't cut it. Those three don't even hold up to NES games much less the first two games in its own series.

L take, 3 is the worst one since its not open world. 5 is the best one out of the final ones

4 is the only thing close to open world in the series. And I wouldn't even consider it open world.

3 is the exact same as all the other games except you aren't on a world map. Having a world map doesn't make a game open world.

I personally liked 3.

I would rate 4 as the worst but I haven't played 5 or Tactics. 4 is the worst because the view causes motion sickness in a lot of people, the recruiting and characters start to get good just before the game ends, and the exploration is more of a hassle. It's redeeming features are that it does eventually get good, but just before it ends and the naval combat is the most fun major battle system.

Highly recommend you look up Suikoden 5. As I said in another thread, it basically takes everything the previous 4 games did right and cuts out everything that held them back from perfection. Its only problem was being on the PS2, with associated technical issues like load times.
