They said in an interview that all 108 stars are obtained through normal gameplay, the monetization and gacha element is just for fan service characters from previous Suikoden titles, so you can completely ignore it if you have no interest in having, for example, Luca Blight randomly in your team or whatever haha.
That's what they've said in interviews anyway, guess we'll see when it comes out. I do hope it comes to steam though, I hate gaming on mobile
dont get me wrong its not a do or die thing with mobile games....
most games always end up getting killed off...
just like my phones battery lol.....
ill consider giving it a go tho....
more so if it comes to pc tho :P

Can you explain how that doesn't make it a gacha game? The game has gacha in it thus it's a gacha game. I said nothing false.
The temptation is simply too great for modern companies to squeeze the weak-minded player into spending real cash for virtual pebbles. As long as the base game is good, who cares if you miss on the extras? Don't forget that Konami is basically a company that lives of gambling machines.
Get the game, but don't pay one cent more for gimmicks.
"Real cash for virtual pebbles" wouldn't exist if nobody buys those pebbles.
Therefore, I can relate to the frustration of people towards a purely profit oriented policy.
Furthermore, gambling is a very real addiction (with financial consequences) and many people are simply too weak to resist it.
Entertainment should not be predatory. Finding a middle way would be fair.
The same goes for leasing or paying a subscription. It pushes you to fall prey to consumption, instead of enjoying what you have. When you buy a product, you should own it fully.
Try to remember the golden age of the internet, when modding communities were vastly improving the games 100% for free. It's a mindset that heavily influences how young people grow up.
The same goes for art in general: how many great works were financed without there being any thought whatsoever about profit?
