Least liked characters throughout the series?
I'm sure there's enough threads about favourite characters. Who is your least liked or most disliked character in the Suikoden series personality and lore wise?

Depends different answers depending on lore or gameplay/

S1 Gameplay Sansuke, Sergei Maas they are useless. Lore Futch & Luc but they are still endearing in a wierd way (both grow through the series however). Kraze & Kanaan but this intentional.

S2 Gameplay the squirrels, Lore Luca Blight & Rowd but this is intentional and very well done

S3 & S4 was never really invested enough to hate anyone that much. Not detracting from 3 though.

S Tactics: Memory is failing me, but whoever authorised the use of that weapon that turns people into fishmen.

S5 Georg Prime I do actually think he is a legend, but he unironically trivialised the game.

Oh I generally meant personality and lore wise. Gameplay of the sukoden games is very easy in general so I never really consider that part.

In that case I sort of answered the first two and would change my answer for S5 to Godwin family & Sialeeds

Honourable mention for Yuber

I never really hated Luca when playing S2. Sure his acts are cruel and I wanted to stop him as much as everyone else who played that game back then, but man does he make it engaging in terms of the story. In that regard I'd say he's similar to Vaas from Far Cry 3.

Even if I would hate Luca, the #1 most hated character from S2 still easily goes to Gorudo
hmm... only realy played 1&2 (and part of 3 wich i couldn't get into because of the move to 3D)

so for S1, Kraze (obviously) they did a good job with him (hate the character, love the character because we are supposed to hate them) and Sanchez... from the first moment i met him i felt like hating him (didn't even know he'd give me a good reason haha)
Honerable mention... "the dock guy" in Kaku from the original game.

Suikoden 2, Gorudo... i absolutely LOVE Luca (best vilain ever! and he kinda feels like Vaas from FC3 imho) but, Gorudo (just like Sanchez) i hated them the first moment i'd seen them (and again, didn't know he'd give me a reason, let alone multiple reasons to hate him)
And Rowd... he's easy to hate right out the gate hahaha

Gremio and Nanami.

Any character that forces themselves into my party and can't hold their own gets to the top of my hate list. Nanami at least is fixable with the right runes, but its still annoying that I could have a better character along, but she's gotta play Big Sister.

Honestly, one of the precious few things Suikoden III had going for it was killing off the Gremio/Nanami character at the start so I wouldn't have to deal with them. Was still sad, of course, but only because I hadn't come to hate Lulu yet.

All my play-throughs Nanami is a beast. Put the double-beat (or double-jab now) rune on her and the fury rune and watch her demolish mobs. Plus her unite attack with the hero is great.

nanami with spark rune is very strong too - she's very fast and will almost always go first, before enemies, and spark rune sets everyone in the party to go right after her, so even your slowpokes can get their turn before enemies do. Giving her a healing rune like Water is nice too so she can get clutch heals out on the party before enemies attack again to finish them off

Like I said, with the right runes she's salvageable, unlike Gremio. Unfortunately, you have to invest the right runes into her, when those runes could be going to better characters.
You're making it sound like she's barely useful while I'm saying she's just below top tier.

We're not talking about the same thing.

Post Lv.60 Gremio's attack actually grows high for some reason so give him a Killer rune and he's set for final boss runs.

As for actual dislike... Nanami... ♥♥♥♥ Nanami.
Nanami's presence definitely elevates Suikoden 2, these people are nuts

Generally the only characters I 'dislike' are ones that force themselves into my party for large parts of the game. Gremio, Viktor, Flik, Nanami etc. but I don't really dislike them as characters as much as I dislike the fact that they make party customization worse.

The only characters I can think of off the top of my head that I actually don't like as characters are Hugo, Lulu and Guillaume from 3,

There's only one character throughout the whole series that I hate with a passion: Snowe
