What file to load from Suikoden 1 to 2?
Hello guys, need a quick confirmation if there's any difference on save file that I will load from Suikoden 1 to 2. Is it still the one you save on the last save orb before the boss fight in Gregminster or the one you save on autosave slot after credits?

Let me know, thank you!

They changed it to be a clear save that's made after beating the final boss.

If that so, I am going to load the last save file after credits, thank you for the confirmation!

I chose the Auto Save File after clearing Suikoden I and it worked perfectly fine.

Thanks for answering this. Saved me a lot of trial and error for Suikoden 2.

it's in a completely separate folder from the normal save, within the save folder. It's in the share folder and the file is called _clrsave_GSD1
Anyone know if there’s a difference in using the save from the final save orb in Gregminster vs using the one created after the credits? I was using an old guide and imported the save orb save and I’m hoping I don’t need to restart my playthrough of 2.

this is the difference
google says:
the Suikoden I savefile must be at the last save point of the game (Gregminster Palace, before Barbarossa) in order to be recognized and transferred in Suikoden II.

Characters will get a level bonus for every returning character from Suikoden I. The bonus is based on every ten levels over Lv. 60 the character was in Suikoden I's save file.
Weapon Levels are also altered based on the old save with returning characters gaining higher starting weapons levels if their old save counterparts have weapon levels between 12-16.
Tir and Humphrey can transfer some equipment between games. Tir can transfer most of his armor and some of his headgear, Humphrey can transfer the Windspun Armor if it was given to him.
Runes were also meant to transfer but a glitch prevents this from working.
If the old save contains data of collecting all 108 Stars of Destiny, then Gremio will appear in the game alive and traveling with Tir, this also nets the player Recipe #39 which is for Gremio's signature Special Stew.
The player's name for McDohl, barring the name glitch, will appear in Old Book Vol. 7.
otherwise might it not work ... probably, iunno.

Try this. Tir is hero name. 108 Star ending achieved. Humphrey wearing Windspun Armour.

sure?
I chose the clear data and I don't think that worked in regards to gear/equip. Hero and castle name were used but Flik and Viktor did NOT have the right equip.

Flik and Viktor never have equipment carry over.

The game won't let you select a save that won't work. Just an FYI to anyone else.

Still puzzles me is, I get Tir, sure. But Humphrey and Pesmerga? (even though Pesmerga can be seen as unintentional)

I have no idea either. LOL I haven't done the mental gymnastics, but maybe they're both the latest characters you get in S2 and the last you get from S1? Maybe they just came under some line they drew.
