Also noticed there are less battle on map and dungeons .
They may have increase the damage and boss HP , like the zombie dragon and thats it.
Also the wheel of chance at Lepants take you straight to the exit 1st try lol
Yes thanks to Kai battle unit , it would be boring without him
I would be more curious about people who have reached Antei\Tien\Rikon on hard mode, as thats when the difficulty really starts to spike up in the originals with those frogs swallowing your party members and doing mega damage
Too bad hard mode here only means more HP and damage.
I'm at that region myself right now. I've never seen frogs in this area, though. Did you mean the pitcher plant enemies?
I wouldn't say the region is all that different from the original game. Even with Kai, you're not destroying everything in one go, but you weren't in the old game, either. Enemies around this time had enough HP to survive that unite.
As far as I can tell, they've got more HP. I couldn't say whether or not they do more damage, as I'm not noticing a difference, or enough of a difference, to say for sure. Bosses don't seem all that different to me, either.
Normal is the PS1 version's difficulty- It's just that Suikoden 1 was never an especially difficult game.
I just finished the game on hard, I didn't struggle at any point in the game and I'm not someone who min-maxes or who's great at games in general. Especially towards the end, enemies could deal out a lot of damage per turn, but you can just heal it back up again. I basically had cleo casting her group heals every turn during boss fights and that was it.
Starting on Suikoden 2 soon, I'm hoping there will be a bit more challenge on hard mode there but I'm fine even if there isn't, I'm mostly here for the nostalgia, story, music etc anyway
The easy fights are still easy.
There were a couple hard spots in Suikoden 1 that are just that much harder now unless you know how to prepare. Zombie Dragon and not taking magic or shopping in all the towns in the area. The mechanical dolls having high defense. Not getting Kai or using rune fragments.
This, both Suikoden 1 and 2 I'd argue both are quite easy games on PSX so I'm not expecting hard mode to actually be particularly difficult.
After that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I gave up for the night. I'll get back to it this afternoon and hopefully that boss actually lets me fight back.
