Can't grab the cat in kaku

trying to get lotte. It wont let me grab the cat in kaku. I have it trapped press X and nothing.

You have to trap the cat in the bushes. Look directly south from where the cat starts when you enter the area and you'll see two bushes (or patches of grass I guess) with a gap. You have to corral the cat there and then grab it.

If I recall correctly you need to have recruited a certain amount of characters before she asks you specifically to find the cat, otherwise she just mentions it's missing and you can't actually catch it.

Keep talking to her till she said she will join. Then go catch the cat. I just tried and it worked.

I was curious what this was so tested it in my 2nd playthrough.

Lotte will say she has a missing cat as a one liner in the Inn. This is not the message that means you can recruit her.

When she's ready to be recruited she will say a few lines of dialogue.

It's possible to reach her before you can recruit her.

Sometimes the events in towns need to be activated organically and will not via tele. Leave the town and reenter it, then talk to Lotte. Then leave Kaku and reenter it to catch kitty.

She has 2 lines of text > 1 is something along the lines of "Ive lost my cat....yada yada" The line of text you need to be able to catch the cat is "Can you help me find my cat?"

Once you've collected 45 star characters and your HQ becomes level 3, the dialogue with Lotte will change and then you'll be able to catch the cat.
