Water Rune Piece Drop Rate

Anyone else feel the drop rate on water rune pieces have been nerfed? Or am I just really unlucky. Almost 5 hours of farming and only 2 drops.

It was always low. Idk the exact drop rate for back then or now but RNG does suck at times...

you've probably made enough cash to buy half a dozen anyway. They're being sold later in game.

the drop rate in the original was 1.31% can see it here https://www.suikosource.com/games/gs1/guides/bestiary.php it was always very low drop rate like mentioned above

Don't believe they are sold in any shop in Suikoden 1, unless it's changed since PS1 era...

You can get one at Kraze's mansion in Kouan, and one in the Great Forest, otherwise the Slimes drop them at a somewhat decent percentage rate. Has anyone else noticed that the Earth and Wind rune pieces have been fixed from the old PS1 translation errors?

What are these rune pieces useful against? I admit I never used them back in the original game since you can't ever remove them from the weapons (unlike S2). Since I'm playing on hard now, maybe I shouldn't ignore these.

they would do different things depending on which one you used the wind and earth ones was reversed in the original release they seemed to be fixed here assuming no changes to them the effects was what ya see here https://suikoden.fandom.com/wiki/Rune_Pieces basically wind would be SKL +2 fire ATK +5% thunder Critical Hit Rate +5% water +5 HP Regen earth DEF +2 and this stacked up to 9 pieces the downside was the only ones you could farm was water and earth the rest you could only find 1-3 of them there was no downside to using them and some bosses were weaker to certain elements

With 9 on one character, that character regents 45 hp per turn automatically. With a high defense, that character becomes immortal.

lol. I farmed 101 water rune pieces for my main hero. took 1 whole day to get them all. i got 101 because the max was 9 in the original suikoden, i read that 99 or 255 was max. maybe it is 255 at max & it resets back to 1 if add for 256.
DO NOT WAIST YOUR TIME FARMING 100 FOR YOUR MAIN CHARACTER.
yes he becomes unstoppable, but if you go past 20 water rune pieces you will not die during the 1st vampire attack that you have to die for the story to continue.

on the side note:
in suikoden 1 matter those rune pieces not at all incase anyone is planning to get any.
in suikoden 2 have they more impact.

i was sometimes able to buy water rune pieces as rare finds tho ... but ... iunno how often that can happen xD.

in Suikoden 1 rune pieces do matter on water rune pieces tho, my opinion. having main character with 20, Cleo with 20, Pahn 10 or 20, Gremio 10 or 20, Victor 20 & saved 30 for 3 other characters made the game on hard mode like it was on easy mode & i didnt have to buy medicine.

ya realize it only takes like 15-20 hours to beat the game, right? even less if you don't make an effort to collect 108 stars.

only farmed for 9 once.
