Suikoden I&II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars

Suikoden I&II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars

Statistiche:
Worth playing if you are not using a guide?
yes as title, I´m playing most likely just one time and I don´t think it´s fun to play with a guide so I will miss out on a lot of stuff I don´t come across naturally.
Are the games still worth playing through?

BUT if you dont, youll miss ALOT of stuff just like final fantasy 12 lol

since I don´t enjoy playing with a guide it´s either miss ALOT of stuff or skip the entire game.
If you plan to play it only once and don't want to use a guide, do yourself a favor and at least search the key points not to miss.
The perfect ending is gotten by finding all 108 stars, that's it, the rest is all optional.
But a few of those stars are "miss-able" meaning if you don't get to them within a certain time doing a certain thing, you'll miss them forever and won't have another chance to recruit them.

So just search what those are then enjoy playing without a guide with no risk of missing out.

EDIT: Or you could mess with the internal clock.
I think I remember there was an epsxe hack that would allow you to reset the internal clock to trigger the missed events so you could recruit the few characters locked behind said timer

lots of characters and scenes are missable. if you dont get to a certain point in Suikoden II in a specific time limit, youll miss a scene with a particular character.

Be extremely careful when it comes to recruiting the 108 stars without a guide. You have to re-check old areas, but the game does give clues and collecting the books will help (if they still around) I haven't quite gotten far enough to get the books yet on first game. On the 2nd Suikoden, it's somewhat easier as you are given an extra thing to help you find the stars but you will figure it out. Lot of the 108 stars will come naturally either auto recruited or just being there standing out from the rest of the NPCs.
Why even use a Guide?
Why is people even playing games with Guides nowadays...
Do people not bother to play, explore and experience anymore?
I've mainly played 1, short version is if a character dies and it feels like they could have survived without affecting the story then they likely needed to survive for the true ending. Example is if a commander died in or after a non scripted battle.

There is a cutoff point near the end but it's not too hard to cycle to a new save file after major plot points and going back if you want to get true ending.

That's really all you need to know if you want to both get the true end and not use a guide, granted there are some chars who can be a pain to find/ get without one.

You can turn the timer off in the Suikoden 2's ingame settings.

I always use You Tube videos as a reference but don't follow every single step. :)

I prefer not to and just play the game, if I miss stuff I miss stuff and if the game isn´t worth playing if you miss stuff I will skip it.
I want to play a game not feel like I need to follow a manual like I´m assembling ikea furniture.:steamhappy:

I used to but then it started to feel like I wasn´t actally PLAYING the games I was just copying someone else playing them.
The only reason youd want a guide is if youre trying to 100% complete the games
Ya i hate using guides in rpg's. I'll miss stuff, but it's worth it. Looking at a different screen constantly and reading what to do next really ruins any sort of immersion and flow. Makes it feel like a chore following step by step what to do. There may come a time where on a second playthrough I'll use a guide. But after beating the game naturally, it really feels like a waste of time getting everything when you just beat the game with much less. I have played every suikoden and never got all 108 stars though, which is kind of annoying lol. So I also see why someone would want to use a guide.

Mainly need to worry about Clive and how to "get" all 108 stars.
