It's an optical illusion because the backgrounds have more clarity.

True. I am really loving the game. It really helps that I technically have forgotten the stories so it is like I am play anew again with better visuals and QoL. But I think I made a mistake of playing on hard. I got wiped on the very first boss lol. I will see if i can progress further otherwise will restart on normal if it gets too hard lol.
