thats why i said you can ignore everything and do your thing, its only recommendition
Here's the real advice for newcomers: if you want to see the true endings in a single playthrough I advise following a spoiler free recruiting guide and to be diligent to get recruits as soon as possible. That's it. That's the advice. Otherwise have fun, expect having to do multiple playthroughs otherwise, but also know that that's not a bad thing.
I have to agree to this. linking all the sources that are not spoiler free is just saying "hey newcomers, here's every type of spoiler possible. hope you don't enjoy storylines." Recommending finding a spoiler free recruit guide for those that MUST get the true ending their first playthrough, yeah I guess. Personally, I just say "play the game once, experience it fresh like you would have with the original" because it'll give you the most genuine experience with them both. The nice thing about owning them...you can always play them again later if you need/want to :)
Yeah, ideally people wouldn't feel the need to automatically find a guide... but as someone that actually has written guides for games, and sorta Suikoden 2 at that, it's just how people are. I'd hope no newcomers sit there farming six 1% drops off enemies right at the beginning of the game but there will definitely be some small subset of people that read the OP and thought "oh hell yeah, that's exactly the kind of advice I wanted to see" and that sucks because holy hell is it boring to farm double beat runes and casually it's so damned unnecessary.
Just as other users said, if you plan on using a guide, particularly for character recruitment, the story will get spoiled most likely, so be forewarned.
Full walkthrough, guides and more.
That's certainly a way to understand the word "tips".
It's probably more for a very rare tyoe of player who wants to do all their games immediately following every directions from guides, than for "newcomers" I'd say.
I have a life, a job, and family obligations. I don't have time to play long JRPGs multiple times, so I'm exactly the type of player who prefers to use a guide the first time, and every time. I've got enough on my plate without worrying about if I missed a super awesome item 10 hours back that would have made my playthrough infinitely easier.
This is an RPG that is friendly to people who don't have much free time. Both games combined you are looking around 60 hours total not each. Op's advice is solid but it is a min max guide. I'd honestly suggest just enjoy the game. It isn't a time sink like Pathfinder games for instance.
