Suikoden 1 Crystal Core in Seek Valley bugged

So I am at Seek Valley to get the ingredient for the dragons and I am at the Crystal Core boss. I have tried 3 times to beat it. All 3 times it bugged on the phase 2 where it was crystal and did it's aoe attacks. My party consisted of Hero, Flik(Cyclone Rune), Humphrey(Dobule Beat/Jab) rune, and Milia.

First attempt I did it like I normal do of using magic for hero and flik. And attack for Humphrey and Milia, using 2x speed to speed it up. Then when it went to Crystal form, the game just stayed on a camera angle after I confirmed my attacks. Nothing worked to fix it

Second attempt, I used magic and attacks for everyone, but kept it off 2x speed. Same thing.

3rd attempt I used only attack except 1 cast of healing Wind to heal, no 2x speed. Still bugged.

4th attempt I just full rushed it to crystal core, almost lost Flik from this. And then when it went Phase 2 I used Healing Wind to heal flik. And the boss fight proceeded as normal.

This mission froze for me at the end of battle, and just as I was getting ready to force close the game, it loaded. There's definitely something wonky going on with this fight.
