I can see someone using guide for the recruits since some are little puzzling, yet seems simple once you know the requirements (like that 2nd cook in first game where you have to sample the stews in a town before he shows up) One of the old vol. books hints that he specializes in stews and that one town only place where you can actually taste the stews if I recall.

Without a guide you wont be able to recruit 108

That Suikoden specific. You make it sound like everyone needs to use guides for old games everywhere everytime. Which is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Besides that you don't have to recruit all characters first time playing.

Unless you have zoomer-attentionspan. Otherwise you just play the game and explore properly - That's how I got my 108 characters without a guide back then.

I appreciate your point but getting all 108 Stars in Suikoden just by "exploring" requires a lot of luck. The game is built in such a way that some characters can be missed or permanently locked, you wouldn't get all of them in your first playthrough.

You forget that strategy guides were a thing.

(And befor you say that 'well the guide writers had to do it!'....no, they would have gotten the info from the publisher if it was an official guide)
