Are the Orks a He-man reference?

Are they, like, a race of creatures based on Orko (Gorbo em Brasil), the wizard from He-man? Or are they some strange version of Tolkien orcs I've never seen before? Or what? What was the inspiration for this race?

Unfortunately, the Orks aren't a reference to He-Man, but now that you've pointed it out... they do look a bit similar!

When I conceived the race of the Orks, I thought I'd do something different from what was already common in contemporary medieval fantasy: Orcs are usually brutish and dumb.
In this universe (which I call Cosmos & Karma) Orks are very intelligent shamans and mages. We have an entry in the Codex talking about each race... ;)
