Not sure how to open the last doors

I am on what I'm assuming is the last level with the scientists, I've translated the entire journal/languages. However, I think I'm supposed to translate the numbers into formulas to get the last doors open. I'm not looking for the answer but at least a hint to point me in the right direction.

There's the big giant blue door the lights up and spit the key back out after I make one. I saw a page in the fairy room but there's no way I can translate all of that gibberish into something useful. Am I supposed to translate that or eventually find someone to help me translate it?
There's another door in a different room (if I'm remembering correctly, it is off of the room with the number converter thing and the chalkboard with formulas on it) that has what looks to be a broken lock and the door says laboratory 3. I press numbers but nothing seems to happen.

Not sure where to go from here. Help!

I'll try to point you in the right direction!
First, the scientist level is not the final one. Opening the large "fairy door" will eventually lead you to the top level of the tower. :)
Now... how to open the big fairy door? Like you noticed, it can accept a key, although it spits it out if it's made incorrectly. As it so happens, your intuition that Laboratory 3 might be the "key" to the key (heheh) is correct!
(1) The scientist that used to work in Laboratory 3 knew the correct formula! and so...
(2) you must figure out how to get into Laboratory 3. But how? Do you see what someone drew on the wall next to the Lab's entrance?
(3) What you need is fire! Have you found something that makes fire yet? Once you have...
(4) You will need to light the lantern next to the entrance. This will allow you to go in.
After all that, you should be able to work out what to do! If not, let us know and one of us can include more walkthrough steps. :)

Thank you for your response! my original post wasn't very clear. I had already lit the lantern to get to the door that says "laboratory 3", but that number pad next to that door seems broken. It doesn't do anything. Do I need to find another way in?

Oh! Okay now I understand where you are. :)
Perhaps you haven't tried the correct number combination on the lock-pad yet.
Hints to find the correct number combo:
1 • Have you found something somewhere with a number on it?
2 • Perhaps a piece of paper laying around out of place somewhere?
3 • What about that hat on the floor in the library?
4 • Yes, that is a number written in the alchemists' language. Can you read it?
5 • If you're not sure how to read numbers going into the thousands yet, try playing with the number machine in Lab 2 for a while until you figure it out.

I thought I did crack the code for that thing in the hat but when I put the numbers into that pad it didn't do anything. I'll try again! :) Thank you

Hi travelers! I seemed that I've been stuck in the same place as you. And also, still try breaking the code. Is that machine for cracking code? Will I have to use it for other task after that?

The machine in lab 2 will be needed to figure out how to read numbers in the scientist language. My hint is it reads left to right.

Thank you for your hint and I finally got the door opened. I wish it would be the last stage..
