Which Kirin do you guys prefer?

On one hand, XX has the better version of the special sword skills and can throw talismans with a spread shot, but on the other hand, she cannot use the passive abilities and the talismans are not as powerful.

Personally, I switch between the two depending on my mood.

I prefer normal Kirin 99% of the time simply because you can use IPs to do some creative stuffs and make the experiences all the more enjoyable

Normal, XX is just too annoying to use when scoring for me with the spread tagging unintended enemies and Arc Chain dealing less damage per stack.

XX is very fun to play. If you used to her new moveset, she is really easy to play with sword combos. They nerf her tailsman but buff her sword damage. It is really fair price and it feels like play whole new character

XX is easy mode, she has infinite talismans and she throws 3 talismans at once so you can never miss any enemy on screen.

Kirin XX is pretty much entirely useless if you want to actually score well, which is kind of the entire point of the game.

I think Kirin XX would be a lot of fun if you could still use at least some passive image pulses with her. Using the pulses that increase sword damage kudos etc might have made her a more viable and interesting character for score runs.

You can still get S++ ranks with Kirin XX though and considering you cannot use your passive IPs for Merciless form, it's not like that matters much.

yeah and merciless just generally isn't a fun mode compared to demanding task precisely because you can't use passive IPs.

Passive IPs in this game let you change up how you go about playing and scoring in a lot of ways. Not being able to use them robs the game of a lot of variety.

Also, if you are going for scoring with Kirin XX then she's ultimately going to be functionally damn near identical to regular Kirin, since both will just be doing the ol arc chain combo, you will never make use of her different sword moves.

I take each option as a preference.

Even if someone might think an option of playing is pointless, someone is bound to like playing that way. So some might prefer Merciless over Demanding, others will treat Trial Mode as the purest ranking mode, others will use XX and play casually.

Scoring in this game is a complete joke in general. But passives are nice for changing up your gameplay a bit.

But the point being, if you're going for score then without IPs kirin and kirin xx are basically exactly the same because you will never use the unique sword moves of kirin xx and just keep up the old arc chain spam.

Scoring is not a joke in general, just on the modes where the equipment that allows cheesing is present, also XX is not the same due to the reduced damage per stack and the fact that the spread reduces your control in terms of tagging order which does matter since that determines where your teleport ends.
