Lost Skies

Feedback: too many repeat blueprints
So, I think I won't be able to finish the demo because the game absolutely REFUSES to give me a machine gun blueprint (for my ship) or a cannon ammo loader blueprint. I've visited all the islands in the demo (multiple times) and looted so many chests that I don't think there are many left (if any at all). I'm stuck at the objective where you have to build a cannon and a machine gun on your ship and then interact with them because I can't build a machine gun.

Edit: since some people seem to misunderstand, the following suggestion is for the full game.

Please consider putting in a check to see if a player has already unlocked a specific blueprint and then make it so that we don't get repeats (or at least make game critical blueprints more common). I'm tired of getting Saboran Wall Light and Tomato Soup blueprints.

I definitely agree with your feedback. Blueprints as loot drops feel too random. I'd be happy even if just the minor cosmetic/stat-tweaking pieces (ammo feeds, engine blocks, mounts) were random drops and the main parts were unlockable via data disks.

That said, there isn't any objective beyond building the ship guns that you can actually complete. There is still quest text directing you to find and destroy a herald, but the fight wasn't included in the demo (likely because it needs more time to cook).

Unless you want ship guns to challenge friends or randos to ship battles, you're not missing out on anything.
Isn't this a demo?
It is just a Demo.. trying to get to the Heart of a game during the Demo is going to leave You disappointed
The repeats thing was super frustrating. Especially since there's only so many chests in the demo world. After I got something like my 10th Schematic for tomato soup but still had zero cannon schematics I was starting to get pissed XD

I would like to reiterate that a check to not give me 50 drops of Spicy Tomato whatever would be awesome. :)
Indeed, too much repetition in drops, not nearly enough ship parts. I've been through every island, some several times, and I'm still missing half the ship parts.
Rather than random loot blueprint drops, a better method would be to scan examples. That way, you're searching wrecks and ruins for information rather than relying on a dice roll.
maybe duplicates can count towards upgrading the blueprint?
This topic has been my biggest complaint about this game, feels like 5000 loot crates i have opened and I only have 22/44 ship parts. I have used the maps online and visited every island, completed every puzzle i can find. What else can a player do to find all the ship parts?

I mean do you even know which ones you have gotten when you pick one up? I can't even tell.. I just collect them and scan/unlock them and just hope it's one I don't have.

I agree this system is pretty dumb.. IF you already have one then it should be taken out of the loot pool or marked in RED or something so you know you already know it.
yea, i agree. way too many repeat blueprints, no way to show what you already have learned. I started to actively throw away the spicy tomato soup recipe

I think one reason for currently missing schematics might be, that in the future there will be zones, that are harder to reach, behind wind- and storm walls, where you can find higher level schematics, the other reason is, the drops need some rebalancing (looking at you tomato soup).

If you want to go that route, for example cause you lost everything to a bug or have eplored all of the map and still miss essentials, people have been compiling the blueprints they found in a save file you can add to your game (and all the mats in another one), available on discord under forums.
