What does Respawn do exactly?

Basically the title. My little one and me are stuck in a puzzle room that we cannot get out of. Do we loose our items on respawn?

You lose whatever isn't on your belt, so move the items you want to keep accordingly.

Everything else is dropped on the ground and can be retrieved. I don't know if this bag has a time, distance, or on exit trigger before it disappears or not.

I see, thank you both. Is there already a walkthrough for these puzzles somewhere by chance?

Some of the harder puzzles are discussed in these forums so you can try and search and hopefully get lucky (ie pillar islands). Otherwise there isn't a guide or website in existence yet that'd help.

No exit trigger I've seen, and I am currently 9000+ units away from a bag I didn't know I dropped.
