Lost Skies

When you hit the deck (550 feet) something happens to your energy
I was down doing some crafting while going to a distant island. I mustve had some adjustment to lift, because when I got back to the helm I was in eternal fog bank at 550 feet. So naturally I tried to go up, only to find out I am not stuck at 550 feet and the ship cannot go up at all. Which means this is the SECOND broken save I now experienced in 2 days. That is an AMAZING record having played games for decades. Never experiences this in a game like this. Bugs yes. Crashes yes. But not these fatal bugs.

This would've have happened if we had more then one save and play testing before the game released in early testing. This is pure nonsense.

I'm just done.

Update - it can eventually start to rise, but the up rate is SUPER slow compared to down rate. Something happens when you hit the deck. Go down to 550 and your rise gets wonky. It took me 20 minutes to go from 550 to 1100 and it cannot stay level. You get to a full stop and you start sinking. It is as if the climb rate somehow has no defined middle point, like there's gravity stuck to your ship and it drops at level and you have to keep rising in order to even float somewhat. It is Bizarr. Not sure of building a fleet yard and redo the engine part will help. But I will try.

I cannot anchor it over a fleet yard either max lift or it will fall fast or slow but it will not anchor over the fleet yard. *sigh*

Saving out completely and going back in, while youre over the ship yard, allows it to anchor. I noticed something. Before I hit the deck I had slight overage of energy. After it was exactly at max energy. So when I removed the core and the enhancement, and placed it back, I have now an overage again. I'm thinking that somehow in the system when you hit the deck, something happens to the energy of the core, so the system think it is WAY below max and therefor effecting lift, but the system sees it as maxed out (so a hidden number below the max energy needed causing some weird issue with lift.

And yes, lift is now normal.

This does not effect forward mobility, only lift. Word to the wise - don't hit the deck.

I noticed that when I pulled my 3x square sails off, and put on 2x engines, and left 2x triangle sails..my lift is tanked as well. It no longer goes neutral. Unless I keep adjusting my lift; it will sink down. <Unless in the shipyard>

Granted, I'm running a slight overdraw on energy. Not sure if it's a symptom of the same problem.

Maybe we'll get a dev to chime in and go indepth on shipstats.

Overdraw on energy tanks your ability to climb, even if your weight is okay.

Yep. Exceed your core? Fall out the sky

How silly, but more importantly, why would going low cause energy to drain? So many issues.
