A little bit, but didn't get how hard the grappling hooks would be to use. You never get those kinds of details from a trailer. Like that you have to press shift and then ctrl to boost yourself along with the grappling hook. I will never master that. Couldn't do it in Last Oasis, won't be able to do it here.
Maybe I can get a refund. This game is not for someone that doesn't have a lot of dexterity in their hands. 10 years ago I could have maybe played this game, but my hands are too old for this.
unfortunately though the grappling hook is going to be eternal. fortunately it has visual cues and a rudimentary auto-lock now for when you're in grappling range of something and pointed in it's general direction...if this release is like the demo.
Holding W to move forward, and holding shift to sprint is difficult?
And then stopping holding w and tapping q, to fly towards aim location, cause you where and are holding shift already to reel in, and then press space to launch yourself flying into air once you get some speed...
Those are the golden standard hotkeys to move WSAD, to go fast SHIFT, and to jump SPACE.
Sounds like a skill issue if you cannot use two fingers at a same time, get feet pedals!
The grappling hook is entertaining though sometimes glitchy as it has a habbit to launch the character inside of solid rock which results in an instant death.
No, I can use two fingers at the same time. I'm actually a pretty good touch typist. t is just the CTRL key that my little finger can not reach at the same time while pressing for instance the W key.
Pretty sure you have to hit CTRL to reel in then space to really fly, right? Seems like it could have been way less complicated. Why not LMB to reel in and RMB to reel out? Why the contortions with the fingers in the left hand. Maybe when you are 66 you might understand why a game like this is difficult to play. On some other game that don't use the ALT key for anything, I map the CTRL to the ALT instead and use my thumb both on space bar and for whatever CTRL is normally used for (usually dodge).
Feet pedals? There is a controller that uses feet pedals? I might need to look into that, never heard of it.
As for the glider, yeah it sucks. I really don't get the point of it since we have the grapple, other than the use case of saving you if you are falling and don't have something to grapple. It might get better as the glider skill levels up? Not sure cuz, for some reason the devs didn't feel like adding descriptions to those passive skills. Which is a miss for sure.
I submitted my refund request. It took me 2.6 hours to realize the game has a lot of grappling. Normally you need to play 2 hours or less.
I have tried in other games (I mentioned Last Oasis) to master grappling. I just can't get it. I don't have the best vision either, so combine that with low dexterity in my little finger, and I don't see it ever working for me.
Aloft player here, also 25+ hours inthe Lost Skies demo.
I can only agree, the glider in aloft may be very satisfying, but it's OP AF. It's not a glider, it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ anti-gravity system. Or maybe a plane. Or both, really.
The first glider is a glorified parachute. The second glider is much, much better. Slightly harder to master, too, but good enough that my ONE death during the demo was by colling head on with a mountain at full speed.
Oh wait, no, I actually died twice, I also dropped a tree on my head.
Well, the lesson here is "speedy things should not hit you on the head, and most likely nowhere else either".
