Also have to wonder how many players are holding off purchasing considering WA was shut down so soon into early access. Even if Lost Skies doesn't need always-online servers, do we trust these devs enough to give them more money?
You could have had a massive dedicated playerbase if you had just let WA live with private servers, that in turn would have purchased this sequel. Nobody buys the "proprietary server software" crap so you couldn't let the game live, I've been in IT my entire working life and dabble in programming, that's not how it works.
Because this is not world adrift.
There is a reason most full open pvp game fail, and the reason, nobody but griefers want them.
The main draw for me is that it's not pvp. Would be even better if it were purely solo, but hey...
You've been in IT ? Yeah, me too. And I've managed server farms for international companies. So I can tell running servers has a cost, even more so if you need to rent proprietary tech. For a game, it means that you need income, which you don't get on a niche game that everyone flees because of pvp griefing.
It should be obvious to anyone who effectively ran servers. You may be in IT, but you're very obviously NOT in the business of running servers.
Cause they ruined the game, it['s unfortunate, maybe I will pick this game up in a steep sale, but not because I like what they did to the project honestly.
Oh please.... Check the top 10 games on Steam, notice a pattern? Most of them are full-on PVP.
Doubt it will be shiney, like oof... I will definitely not pick it up anytime soon.
I think PvP is on the table but it'll still be limited to your hosted game with either 4 or 6 players max (I forget the number)
We might see PvP servers if / when server hosting is a thing (I don't keep super up on this game but am somewhat interested how it pans out.
