Lost Skies

Ship questions
I am sure I will think of more questions but so far just these as a completely new player to this game:
1. Is there a way to teleport back to the ship, if I left my ship a bit too far. I jumped off too soon and while I made it to the island safely, I can't go back to it, not even with hook.
2. I tried building some deck platforms to create some easy access between sails and helm but the deck piece just went vertical as a wall panel...what I am doing wrong?
3. My game crashed and I wanted to go back to my shipyard to try building again, but I can;t see it where I put it (starting island). Do we have to build shipyards all over to expand our ship?

Thanks for the help

1. If you've registered to a ship's core, you can teleport to it by respawning from the escape menu as a last resort. (You will drop everything that isn't in your belt.) If the ship is stopped, you can walk/float into the green beam to teleport up into it instead.

2. Hard to tell without screenshots, but decks and panels cannot be placed free-form. They fill the tops and sides of a given ship section. If you place one by accident, you can salvage it with your PRISM (middle mouse).

3. Shipyards normally stay where you leave them. You can't make additions to your ship unless it is docked at a yard, so you'll need to craft a new one or find one of your old ones.

Thanks for responding. Just found the green beam, cool. But after game crashed, I just reloaded into the ship so good, flew it to land. I couldn't find another way to save so I just exit to main menu. Now again my shipyard is gone, but my ship is where I left it and I can't build because I am not in the bubble.
Ok so building...how do I build new sections? Is that in the shipyard menu, I add skeleton areas then fill them in?
To add additional sections, go to "edit ship". I believe it's E by default to add them and Q to remove. Pressing C will toggle between what symmetry you want your edits to have if any--side to side, front to back, top to bottom, or none.

Cool, thanks. Not if my shipyard would stop going poof, I'd be golden lol. I'll check how to submit a bug just in case.

Ooo another few notes about the shipyard: by using data disks on the subsequent shipyard unlocks in the ark's computer, you can add even more sections to your ship from the default 10!
You can also, when you're done editing your ship and unmoored it from the yard, recycle said shipyard with the prism to recoup all the materials used in creating it. This way you always have the materials on hand, and the recipe seems to stay the same even after upgrading. Or...y'know. Demo limitations/haven't gotten far enough yet for the game to justify making me spend more on better shipyards.

Recycling also seems to work on forges, but you only seem to recoup the cloth from sails you dismantle.

That's a good idea to dismantle the yard. I will def do that next time, to at least avoid losing it all. Is there a way to teleport to the Ark computer without killing one self though or just fly back there? I imagine once the game is released, we will travel much further.

Unfortunately I'm not seeing one, and be aware that teleporting to the Ark Computer will cause you to deregister from your skyship core too. That said if this is anything like Worlds Adrift, every island is going to have at least one Ark on it somewhere until you reach a certain point of progression, upon which you'll start making expeditions into territories that have no Arks for the promises of better gear and schematics.

either way currently respawning seems to bug out the second or third time you select to respawn on your skyship core. Be wary of that too.

I have some questions about ships as well.

1. If I unregister a ship will it be destroyed or disappear?

2. Can I create a new/second ship from scratch and then transfer all of my storage?

Id like to create a brand new ship from scratch because the starter blueprints have all those angles and weird directions that are a bit complex to navigate. But I'm afraid I'll lose my old ship with all 10 storage boxes full of materials. Is this possible or will I have to remodel my current ship instead?
