Lost Skies
Get real people
Bossa Studios almost closed down permanently. They sold off almost all their intellectual properties to keep the doors open. You can't have this game for free no matter how wrong you feel you've been done. It would be the certain end of the studio.

Furthermore, it isn't even really their decision. In order to finish this game, they had to sign with a publisher. Bossa can ask the publisher to give you the game for free, but they would be laughed at. The publisher, who had nothing to do with the first game, has likely invested millions into this new game's development. Guess what? They want to make that money back.

The publisher will likely approve a small discount, say 20 percent, for owners of World's Adrift. If that's not enough for you, oh well. Starting fantasy threads about getting this game for free helps no one, and just makes you look foolish. This is not how the world works, folks. Bossa isn't going to shut down on your behalf, and the publisher--again, had nothing at all to do with the first game--isn't going to just throw away their returns on their investment just because a few people are whining about losing $40 as if they haven't wasted much more than that on a backlog they'll never get around to.

Just get over it. It's like complaining about the weather. You can't make it stop raining, and you can't have this game for free. Those are facts. Whether you like them or not doesn't matter in the least.

This will probably have more stuff than the original, this isn't like a "ps4 to ps5" upgrade or whatever ARK did. It's another game, no matter how much it looks like the original. Makes sense to sell it regardless of previous situations.

I mean, why not just ignore it instead of complaining, right? I'll be sure to buy it since I found out about the previous game only after it had already shut down.
Giving out keys to owners of the previous game would cost them countless game sales from the group of people most likely to buy the new game. As a retired business analyst, I don't think there is any doubt there. Also, you simply can't compare this to successful free games. It is not going to be a live service nor a PvP game, and it's also not free. This game would fail as a free game. This game will not be a huge hit. It wasn't the first time, and the MMO-type nature of the first game made it arguably more marketable than this new version.

Furthermore, since you are unfamiliar with Bossa's financial situation, you should probably not make grand statements about what would/would not sink the studio. The complete liquidation of the company's assets should tell you what you need to know. I was actually someone who placed a bid on portions of their IP catalog. It was actually the last thing I did before I retired. They ignored our bid, and I didn't know why until I saw this game. We had been primarily interested in World's Adrift, though our plans were very different for it.
The generation of ME showing itself loud and proud. They dont owe you crap. Dont like it.. pound sand.
