The concept is great, the visuals are beautiful, and I love the mix of exploration, combat, and puzzles... but in its current state, I’d recommend holding off, at least until the first patch.

Right now, the game crashes often, and basic functions like keybinds frequently stop working. I’ve spent more time reloading than actually playing.

Example: I left my ship alone for five minutes to explore. Came back, and there’s a giant steel ball sitting where it used to be. Apparently, you can’t just park it? Thankfully, the shipyard lets you respawn it but then I couldn’t see my inventory. Reload. Later, I lost half the items in my coffers. Reload. Couldn’t move things out of my bags because they were stuck to my mouse. Reload. My items disappeared entirely... but then I found duplicates on the floor. Reload.

Tried pinging something to my friend while the ship was moving? Crash. Reload, and now I’m dead in the void. Revive at the Ark—everything’s gone, and my stuff is 5000 units away, somewhere below me... in the emptiness.

So far, it's a huge turn off.

Man... This game is a tear-jerk when and one I hold personally close to my heart of all the 200+ games I have on steam. I remember back in 2017 I was working at a car wash, 21 years old, patiently waiting to play World Adrift as soon as I finished my $10/hr job. I was playing non-stop. I just loved Worlds Adrift. When it was announced that the game would be shutting down due to financial reasons with the world-hosting I was heart-broken. Desperate to play the game again.

In that time span, I had survived the Las Vegas Shooting, enlisted in the military, finished 3 deployments and now I am a veteran with 90% disability at 29. I saw this game pop up on my recommended and I checked the developer and saw it was none other than Bossa Studios. I just finished working and I felt a sense of nostalgia instantly from the flying stingray's. But instead of remembering how much I hated them, It was nice for a change. As soon as I built my ship and sailed off I couldn't help but get emotional. Remembering how simple my life had been just working at a car wash. Before the mass-shooting, before the numerous deployments, before I went out to be an adult and this was the last real game I sank time into during my youth. I am entirely grateful you guys have brought this game back not only in spirit but with a face lift and a beautiful world. I am excited to see where this game goes and to anyone wondering if you should get it, I would say absolutely.

Thank you in addition for adding the nostalgic WA ship's helm/flag/plaque in remembrance to WA. I can't wait to fly it high. And to all my WA veteran's out there I hope this game brings you back the same catharsis it has brought me.

So far, the game is just not playable, we're doing a 3 man co-op, everything ship related is a mess, things get destroyed, glitch and all around don't work, which is a major bummer when it's the whole selling point.
The hook system is great though, minor tweaks and it would be fantastic!
So it's probably a "let it cook" kind of deal.
