Why was this announced so early??
it's nearing three years since the announcement and there is more or less no new substantial information. I have no doubts everyone is working hard and I can definitely be patient, but I'm just wondering.

probably just to generate some hype and let people know stuff is in the works even if won't be ready for long time
It's a long wait but thankfully, as a Homestuck, I am used to long waits.

It seems a lot of devs do this; I understand wanting to share the hype, but then that starts the countdown to people eventually getting tired of waiting, especially if we're talking 3-4 years without even a vague idea of when they expect to release the thing.

I don't really mind it sitting in my wishlist though, it's not like how some devs will make a kickstarter or rush their game into early access for a glorified proof of concept, and then drag their feet for ages before abandoning the thing.

it could be anything. it could be life problems causing a delay, dev inventing new stuff and just cramming it in there, could be biting off more than they can chew.

regardless, im just being patient.

Hello devs.
I don't do Patreon.
Make a $50-100 early access version on Steam and I will support it day 1.

Same. Not interested in a monthly donation for what will be ultimately be a single purchase (i.e. a copy of a videogame).

So... web design is going to be core to the gameplay, now?

I'm not sure I'm really interested anymore, if that's the case.

they literally tell you it's just the tool they're using to make the actual in-game websites and a separate application to the game in that video.

Yup, that's why I was concerned.

It's not like, "♥♥♥♥ you, I'm not buying your game now unless you remove this," I just have like, less than zero interest in web design, so if it's going to be a focus, the sequel's probably not going to be for me.

What I liked about Hypnospace Outlaw was just digging through old internet stuff and exploring all the weird subcultures. The story was a nice bonus, too, but at no point did I ever think, "Damn, I wish I could make my own dumbass Geocities page like back when I was a kid."

Like, I could just do that, y'know?

Dev said in another stream that this wont be the case and that the page editing are simply "dev tools". The "web design" aspect of maintaining your own page is very simplistic. The game will probably hold your hand through the whole process. You'll be able to change some text, download links and imagery on your site. The whole thing sounded like a purely cosmetic aspect of the game from the devs own words. I guess it's subject to change but the video is very recent.
