How to get a yellowjacket?

I know they appear in summer. I'm spending all day wondering around with a buddy but I hardly ever see one! I've only seen 2 and they seem impossible to catch. I've put down a bug trap but they never spawned near enough to it. Seems almost impossible to catch before summer is over unless there's a way to find where they spawn more often or something.

I figured out a way to at least catch it for anyone struggling with this. Basically you get a buddy and spend all day running around in spring hopefully to spawn a yellow jacket (seems very rare - took me about a week doing this all day!). While running around hold the bug trap. If you spawn a yellow jacket run a good distance away from it and quickly drop the big trap then click on it, select to set the trap and run to the other side of it. If you're lucky you'll be able to do that before the yellowjacket reaches you and when it crosses the trap it should get caught. Don't run too far away though as it will stat to despawn before reaching the trap. Hope this helps someone who struggled with this like I did!

Thank you for posting your tips!! Really glad you found a way that works for you, those yellowjackets are pesky!! Yellowjackets don't require a buddy be with you to catch them, however the more hands the better! Congrats on catching them

It would help enormously if they simply paused the game so the insect doesn't move while the inventory window is open.
