Missions are identical, shoot balloons/convoys/airplanes/boats. They look the same and play out the same way.
Biggest difference is that you don't get to toss bombs out of the cockpit, or use the flare gun. Obviously that wouldn't work in a WW2 plane... but the bombing as it is now just feels unrewarding. You fly towards what you want to bomb, the reticule automatically indicates you can bomb when you dive at a certain speed... and you press a button. Same story with the flare gun, instead your plane has rockets you can fire. So all you do is point your plane towards a balloon for example - and press a button.
There's also a bunch of minor issues like how your head always clips through the canopy when you look around. It's basically unavoidable.
One of the few new mechanics they did add is flaps, but I honestly don't know if they work as intended. You can basically stand still in the air if you engage the flaps, nose down and drop the speed. It completely trivializes shooting ground targets and you fly slower than you ever did in the WW1 planes. It also doesn't really seem to ever stall when the flaps are engaged - just feels weird.
It's not terrible or anything, but the first game was a lot better imho.
It's just that the first game was, in my opinion, better... and more refined. That could change of course, this is early access after all.
This is exactly what I expected, the same formula with WW2 planes in a WW2 Theater !!!!!
BTW, the AI seems to be improved.
Oh no..you didn't come across like that...and you've made some valid points. I think as it's early access anyway, the devs will be patching it...It does make me feel a bit 'seasick' though...it's quite 'full on' lol
any idea how much better the pcvr version looks? also can you use joystick for the quest 2 version like the first game?
