not sure if I understood what you tried to communicate. do you mean you're not able to leave the starting room? (it's a temple, btw)

open the gate in front of you and walk to the left corner in the back. kill the groms. open the chest turn around and go back to the left corner where you came from. open the chest (save before you do that. in case your lock pick breaks you can reload). go to middle of the wall where you started. it will lift automatically. step outside and walk a few steps until you meet someone.
