General Fixes for Two Worlds Epic Edition!
Since Two Worlds 1 or Two Worlds: Epic Edition is a pretty old game we all know there are problems with old games. In this guide im trying to explain everyone every single way i personally know who can help to run your game smoothly without crashes and other stuttering problems.

Lets get started
Since Two Worlds came out in 2007 it might be a serious problem if you have Windows 10+
so a possible fix might be to run the game trough a service pack, like XP or Vista. simply get into your folder where Two Worlds is installed to for me it would be "C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Two Worlds - Epic Edition" do a rightclick on the Two Worlds.exe go to properties -> go to compability and try some different things out, maybe it might help!

Theres a programm called WineD3D, it is used for older games and it might help you run Two Worlds run smoother or better. https://fdossena.com/?p=wined3d/index.frag
WineD3D supports older Direct X Software which might be needed for an older game. once you downloaded WineD3D theres an "ReadME" textdocument, check that out if you wanna know how to install it.

Two Worlds "Auto Saves" if you have problems with crashing on Auto-Saves you should turn that off, also try to uncheck the boxes below the sound settings maybe something might help aswell.

Also theres a patch "https://ntcore.com/?page_id=371" which is absolutly nice for Multiplayer because a common issue is the "Joining" and "Creating" a game Crash.
To install the Patch basically double click it and search for the Two Worlds.exe in your Folder and apply it also you can try and go to the "Control Panel -> Programs -> Windows Features activate and deactivate -> open Legacycomponents and activate DirectPlay, once done press okay. DirectPlay does help a lot when it comes to Multiplayer connections in older games. If you still having connection issues and can't join your friends, you all should download hamachi, its an program which connects everyone to the same network.

Especially the the patch helped me a lot because i got a lot of crashes on creating a game in multiplayer. i personally had no problems in singleplayer (playing on a pretty new setup on windows 11). I hope that Guide helped you guys atleast a bit. keep in mind that everyone has a different system and what works for me doesn't mean it has to work for you. let me know if any of these fixes worked for you. if you have some more fixes post them below i appreciate that!

The 4GB patch in general is recommanded for many other games too (eg. Legend of Grimrock, Dragon Age ...) adding some mods and/or to avoid save crashes (CTD's).
For Two Worlds the patch is - as you said above - recommanded to start a with multiplayer or adding some mods in single player.
That's really nothing new, because there is a post on the Discord Server month ago, the server you joined yesterday and left an hour later. :steamhappy:

Well, yeah i found finally a fix that works for me, so i can share fixes with others right, also not everyone wants to join a discord server they doesn't know. Some even don't have discord. I was looking for a fix quite some time and never actually found something what helped me for multiplayer.

Sowas nennt man dann wohl "mit fremden Federn schmücken" (spichwörtlich). Gut gemacht ... :steamhappy:

Joining the Discord, to get the information you need (bacause you cant find the solution for yourself) leaving the server and post it here, that's not okay. Anyways ...

yeah now its an "whatever" you trying to make me shame because i found a link on a discord and share it with users on a gaming platform? your name is "RPG Only" u must be a very proud RPG Gamer since 1985 and have nothing other to do, to get mad about someone trying to help other people getting a fix for their game. because that makes me mad. and now u act like i copied everything from your discord about informations i needed? as u said its not your fix right? so im free to share it since its public anyways?

Thanks for posting your solutions, Arixh. It doesn't matter where you got them. We all do our own searching all over the internet and come back to Steam to help other players fix problems with their games. Unless it's a published article with a copyright notice on it, and you posted it verbatim, I don't see a problem.

Edit: And you are correct. I don't like to use Discord.

I had two worlds two working, but after a few hours the game degrades and crashes. The tools provided here made the game unplayable. I had to completely remove the installation folder and redo the install, including the fixes required to get the game to operate in the first place.
