Working Method to Enable Mods+Small Mod Archive
E: I was recently made aware of a fan-made discord, and they also have and develop mods of their own with their own archive. I'll back them up for myself in case it gets lost, but for the sake of brevity their mods or ones on there won't be added to my archive.
https://discord.gg/5mcaT93gMp

There was originally the method of using the control panel to install them, but that appears to no longer work with the shutdown of insidetwoworlds.com. I tried using the control panel, putting it administrator and whatnot, but I couldn't get it working. Instead I've discovered an alternative method:

Move the .wd mods you want into the file path (Installation path)/Two Worlds/Mods. If there is not a "Mods" folder, create one. Go ahead and start the game, and then go ahead and close it - this is to allow the registry to update with the mods. From there, use the windows search bar and type in "Registry Editor", open it, and go to the file path HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Reality Pump\TwoWorlds\Mods. Clicking Mods should show a list of the mods that you've moved to that folder. To enable them double click their name and you will see a new window that shows its value, whether it's Hexadecimal or Decimal, etc. You can ignore that stuff and the only thing you need to do from here is change the value to 1 - do this with each mod you want to use. It is now enabled and ready to be used, you only need to start the game from here.

Most of these mods are likely outdated and/or require a new save game to see them working. Because the Software Development Kit is no longer supported, modded has pretty much died out for this game. There may be some 'unsupported' mods that work for the current version.

There may be a way to downgrade your game version to a version with more supported mods, such as 1.5, but I'm almost certain it's not possible on Steam. I'm aware TW1 is on GOG and I've heard on GOG you can downgrade game versions, but I haven't tested this or know if there are older versions available there.

If my wording or steps was confusing or you need additional help, leave a comment and I'll reply to help as fast as I see it.

Here I've included an archive of mods and modding tools that I could find scattered around the forums. For the ones I could identify I made a text file with a description of their function.

Edit 3: 1/9/22 I've updated the file to include text files with the names of each of the mods. There's a text file for most of the mods I have that may include which version is supported and will give a description of the mod. I also included a link inside each text so you can view the archived page of the mod. There are also a few more mods, three or something, I don't remember.

Thanks for this. Does anything say what these mods actually do?

thanks for this thread, kayokake.

Some of the mods doesn't work of course. They are intended for 1.5 version of the game but it's ok. I'm interested in the "Elite" mod created for 1.7 version (version of the game from steam and gog). This mod make the game much harder in general and i think is pretty good.

It would be very nice if someone could modify this game, after years... in your archive many tools for modding are present, but i don't know how to use those tools.

Anyway thanks a lot. I've tested your method to enable mods and it works perfectly!

This didn't work for me running on 1.7, but I did happen to figure out something that seems to so far. All I did was drop the mod files you gave on Google Drive, into the 'WDFiles' Folder within where my TwoWorlds data was.

Haven't been able to go through to see if all of them work or not, but when I went to start my game- it allowed me to make a Female Character (which is a big win in my book!)

:8bitheart: Thank you so much for this thread- it's pretty much the only one that exists. :8bitheart:

I honestly didn't realize there were any replies to this since I've posted this and it's extremely likely you already moved on, but other people may find it helpful so I'll go ahead and answer this. Using an archive of the old site you can browse the uploaded mods on the site and try to determine based off the mod names in my archive which mods is which. (https://web.archive.org/web/20140403103135/http://www.insidetwoworlds.com/local_links.php?catid=8) It's also where I found how to enable mods.

Edit: It seems steam has flagged the link as malicious. If you don't want to open it you can manually find it by using archive.org and searching the url insidetwoworlds.com. The snapshot for my link is from 2014, there's newer captures but it doesn't seem they load to anything.

Did you do anything differently other than putting the files in WDFiles Folder? I tried everything here and couldn't get anything to work..

In fact, my Mods Folder is under Two Worlds 2, so it doesn't boot with TW1, (even after following the steps above). Kinda sad because I was really hoping it would work...
