Do I need a mic for this game to complete hunts, like asking things from ghosts etc? I'm really interested in the game, but im a single player with no friends to play with and it would be awkard to talk to myself(+dont even own a mic).. if not, im hoping some options for this will become available in future..

It is highly recommended to have a mic , as the game, ghosts, and some tools, picks up on things said directly or indirectly. Also communicating with team mates (I Highly recommend Multiplayer for the best experience). You can get away without a MIC, in a multiplayer group, as long as someone that has a MIC, has the voice required devices. Not having any direct friends to play with is not an issue, as the in-game multiplayer feature, allows you to see and join groups up to 4 people easily. (Though not being able to communicate, may cause you some grief). Pick up and try the Demo, it will let you know if you can do what you need to do, to play efficiently. Cheers.

No, a mic isn't needed. The 1 device that's used to talk to ghosts can be used by holding the left mouse button and pressing 'v' (not sure if this is needed but I get replies without the mic). Only certain ghosts reply and rarely on the first attempt. The little ghost symbol on the device will glow if you are contacted. I've been soloing it without the mic (doing the above) but it's a little more immersive when you actually ask questions and get a reply.

You can complete missions without a mic. yes the spirit box will be useless to you since no mic, but you can wing it with basic deductions and finding the other two observations.

Thanks for the replies guys! It cleared a lot. I wont be joining multiplayer because i personally feel thats not immersive to me in a scenario like this :) I'll give this game a try since its not overly expensive.

I am deaf and wouldnt be fair if I cant use mic since I cant speak. I use ASL and does this game have close captions?

Keep going with that game since I did played demo recently and liked it but my another deaf friends warns me that this game need sounds and mic to beat the game.

generally for people that are mute like me, these games usually seem fun and interesting like this, first class trouble, other talking games, but potentially impossible to play either alone or with friends, which i guess ish just how things go lol

I am also a deaf player who does not use a mic, and am not impressed with the demo so far.

in the release version of the game, you can type out all prompts, the game also features a text chat to communicate with your team. Audio is not required either as all evidence can be seen visually
