They want people that were getting the crashes to test it over the weekend with the new update.
And they want you let them know if you got crashes this time.
That is why Voice Chat in game and Voice Recognition apart from Spirit Box are not working.
Interesting.... this afternoon I was playing the game fine (solo). Since this update, None of the voice related stuff works - including the spirit box. (at least, it does not give the wavey feedback signal to show its picked up my voice)
Just roll back this patch and do more interenal testing. The previous patch worked fine..
As for turning on the Spirit Box, it is on when you pull it close to your face and where you can no longer see the wavy line on the box I am guessing one of two things:
1: They have broke it.
2: They have it directly hooked into the Mic Input Device so you may not see the wavy lines when using it.
Now I see a bad issue there, especially for the second one, like how are they even knowing what the Mic Input Device is, everyone's setup is different, so that approach is a bad one.
The ESG doesn't require Voice Activation, which is why you can all stand in the tent looking at the Monitor, sure talking in the game can help, specially if its a Ghost that reacts to people talking.
As for Voice Chat, when we have always play especially on stream is via Discord due to most of the time we have somebody new playing the game.
All in all I would of done things differently, I would of done the following:
1: Start using Steams Beta Section and release this version as the Beta and have all the people they wanted to test this version to see if it still crashes.
2: Left the Live version for people that had no or very small issues with the game.
Doing that you would still have people being able to play your game, the way they have done it you have nobody.
I totally agree with what you are saying, especially for new players, all these issues that has been happening since the Halloween update is not a good impression on the game and I can fully understand them thinking about getting a refund.
As for just rolling back to the previous patch, sure it might of worked for you, your friends and myself without any issues, but there were loads of players that was unable to play due to the crashes that they are getting and I have seen a lot of my friends crash out, get stuck in the floor, load into the game with a blank screen, so there is loads of bad bugs that appeared in the Halloween Update that needs to be fixed.
So rolling back to the previous patch and to test it internally would not work, it needs for those people that are having those issues to run this current version to see if its fixed the crashing and other issues.
Like I said in one of my previous posts, I would start using the Beta Branch on Steam and use that to test stuff and have players that want the game to be great like it used to be and test new features out that may or may not end up getting added.
By using the Beta Branch on Steam they wouldn't have this issue that have right now and all the people that have gone down that refund route might still of been playing the game.
Like I have said above they need to start using the Beta Branch on Steam and have all new and testing releases on there and leave the Release / Live Version alone until the new (Beta / Test) are bug free.
