BUG: No audio when using 32 bit, 384000 hz (other titles are fine)
With every other game I play, this is not a problem. However, if I set the audio in Windows 11 to 32 bit, 384000 hz the will be no in game sound.

If I set my audio to 16 bit, 48000 hz the sound will work.

Note, having my audio set to 32 bit, 384000 hz for any other other game is fine. Also the intro splash screen has sound, just not in the game.

Maybe because the Intro is just a video. Why run your sound settings so high?

Sound quality and it makes a difference with my setup.

The normal human hearing range is about 20,000 Hz, unless you're mixing your own sounds then 48,000 Hz for listening should be enough, that's DVD quality. That's just my opinion though, be patient, maybe someone can offer better advice.

I doubt it, because non of the game sounds will be encoded at such a high range.

The highest i've ever played is 24 bit, 96000 Hz... anything above that is rather pointless, if 24bit/96000Hz wasn't pointless enough for most people anyway.

When I play lossless audio, it does sound different, anyway - the fact other games work with this and this title doesn't, I thought I would mention it. It just means I have to change the setting in Windows 11 each time I play - maybe its an engine limitation?

Maybe it is. Why don't you stick a query on the Bug Reports forum, it might help.

Thanks, I will do that.

Did you ever managed to solve this? I also like to keep the 384000hz 32 bit setting and Kovaaks seems to be one of the few games that don't work with it. (The Finals also doesn't).

It's not about hearing range. It's more about the quality of the sound. your thinking of frequencies in terms of high or low. This is all about the quality of the sound.

For a great example on sound quality go to https://www.bandlab.com/products/cakewalk?lang=en and download cakewalk for free which is absolutely amazing.

There you can experiment with a microphone to listen to the differences in different sound qualities. Think of it more like how much detail can be present in a sound and how much smoother the sound can get for example when using 44100hz vs 48000hz.

The focus here is on sound quality, not the normal hearing range. It's frustrating when the discussion veers off-topic, especially when it's clear that the information provided isn't relevant. If you're unsure about the topic, it's better not to comment rather than risk misinforming others.
