This is always a problem when you progress quickly with a new release.
It will probably be a while before we start seeing increased difficulties.
They are still developing new maps, safe houses, probably ghost models and animations since the game is still quite new.
Phasmophobia went through this also before they came out with custom levels and reduced rewards so people couldn't cheese objectives and make the game low risk and high reward.
They (phasmo devs) also found out only a small amount of the player base actually played the higher difficulties.
about hunts starting its quite hard to know when hunts start and end, i stayed with some players that we survive and we still thinking the ghost was hunting but was not, its true we can hear him touching the objects but sometimes he is far and you don't listen so you don't know if he is still hunting or not, and the ghost basicaly knows where are you and he will go directly to you and kill you in case you don't have crucifix so its useless to hide and there is maps we can't loop the ghost so the hunts needs some work.
in my opinion each ghost should have a different exorcism.
This game have alot of potential but still need some work specialy on hunts and was nice if we could interact with the objects furnitures to open drawers or other objects, they could make an exorcism to find special candles or holy water to make an exorcism and you need to look inside the drawers or in other objects this items etc..
I can imagine that playing the game in the state as it is for a longer time would be boring; now I played around 15 hours and know all maps and was also on "Hard" difficulty. However, I would say that since getting evidence is way more difficult than the Phasmo difficulties below "Nightmare", there is still interest remaining in playing this game especially with friends.
So recently, the sentence "I want a Nightmare mode in Demonologist" rushed through my brain, because I can think that I want to play another game in the near future when knowing all the (most interesting and challenging) content of it. And I am optimistic that the devs will add it in the future, because if you just look at the world map there are so many empty spots for potential new maps... After about 1 month of EA release thousands of players have played this game. So one can imagine that the game ends REALLY BIG.
Before the increased difficulty introduction I would recommend for the devs to fix issues, for example the ghost hunting system - hiding spots and crouching is already in development, the enormous sound level of specific jumpscares (multiple people complained about the blood flow scare in hospital or the crawling lady scare), the price of items, maybe evidence gathering, etc.
