Crashing when mining stone with a pickaxe
Three times in a row now I've tried to mine stone only to have the game abruptly crash about a half second after the rock explodes into pieces. Can't really progress, anyone else seeing this problem?
At least there's not much mining in a survival game, right?

Lower some settings?

Game runs quite smoothly at all times with no hitching, so I don't think it's a performance issue, but sure, I'll give it a shot.

I kind of can't believe it, but yeah, this worked. I set everything to lowest settings and have mined 50+ rocks since and not gotten a single crash. Before I was crashing after 1-3 stones most times.
I'm used to games that run badly if there's too much graphical load, not crash outright, but at least I have my answer. Thanks!

Wish I knew exactly which setting was causing the problem though, because now I'm going to have to gradually up the performance and see what option causes a crash. And since it doesn't crash on EVERY rock break, I'll have to tweak something, break a bunch, tweak one more thing, repeat...

Guess you should try low settings, too then! Thank Rogue.

If you crash, post the callstack and the error message here.

Changed a single setting: Set Temporal Super Resolution to "Native AA" and the crashes are back. That's what I had it on originally, during the first crashes, and when I changed it to Quality the crashes stopped. Nothing else changed just now, just that, and it crashes.
So uh, I guess don't use the Native AA setting?

it seems this is a somewhat recent issue, I'm trying to get into RS and this has stopped me from progressing

Okay. I fixed it by just not playing the steam version, only the verison on their launcher
