Note that you will not be able to get major updates at all (v1909 is deprecated).
And in these instances, what tends to happen is that local Windows Update database get messed up so it won't even find the minor updates for your old build.
There used to be a way to clear the database cache somehow (been years since i did this so i don't remember anymore), which might help you getting your Windows build up to minspec.
EDIT:
Not exactly what I had in mind but should work:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/all/windows-update-database-corruption/7d4a68e8-cad3-422b-a54b-d5c17e397319
But yea, the minspec is given by the technology used (AgilitySDK in this case, mandated by use of certain UE5 features), it won't change.
Thanks for trying to help Arc. I hope your day gets better. :)
Try this.
This is the first time I've actually seen specific windows versions listed in the system requirements for the offending games, so it seems like the devs of this game at least have some understanding of the problem (though I don't think we can necessarily expect it to be fixed).
Like many people, I've seen windows updates destroy far too many computers to play Russian roulette with something I put that much money into, so as frustrating as it is, I've basically just been putting games like this on the list to re-purchase someday in a few years when I buy a new computer. Which does not help anybody here--sorry :( But I figured anyone trying to find answers deserves a response from someone who isn't currently trying to grind a stick as far into their rear orifice as possible and suggesting you do the same.
I agree with all of this.
What the developers could've done at the very least is give a major like warning notice on the store page that reads: "This game requires current windows version, and current graphic drivers in order to run"
If it's under additional notes I'm wondering how many people fell for it and bought the game by accident thinking that they could somehow navigate the problem
When there are people responsible enough to face the reality, they get their answer in under 5 replies with 0 fuzz around it.
It's honestly fascinating how people that take zero responsibility in their own actions keep blaming others for their own mistakes.
When you have people that failed to read minspec, failed to read the thread to which they are replying to and for some reason still won't post what was asked for 3 times over, don't blame others for trying to show you the way.
Linux, Mac, or Windows emulators are not supported at this time
Okay, thank you for the quick response. I guess I will have to get a PC in order to play, I have many other games that won't run on Mac I want to play. Time to have a system for both.
This is the problem with all these posts that complain about the game, they don't give any system specs.. then eventually reveal they're trying to play a dx12 game with a brick. A brick running 2024 drivers.. is still a brick.
it started with 5.1 or 5.2 i think and ended with 9 if im remembering rightly
ohh they are still updating dx
had to look it up it started with 5.2 and ended with 9c
now im reading pc history and looking at all the old tech we had takes me back
