DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument
i am not super computer savvy and even though i made sure my pc had all the specs required to run this game i get this message every time i try to play. Anybody able to give me a step by step on how to fix this? ive been trying for an hour and im about to just get a refund

Seriously not sure how what I posted is antagonistic...
It's the other guy's attention-seeking tantrum tbh.

..If that is the root of my issue I will post back here after I get through this, provided my pending cancel doesn't process before it is done.
Note that you will not be able to get major updates at all (v1909 is deprecated).
And in these instances, what tends to happen is that local Windows Update database get messed up so it won't even find the minor updates for your old build.
There used to be a way to clear the database cache somehow (been years since i did this so i don't remember anymore), which might help you getting your Windows build up to minspec.

EDIT:
Not exactly what I had in mind but should work:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/all/windows-update-database-corruption/7d4a68e8-cad3-422b-a54b-d5c17e397319

But yea, the minspec is given by the technology used (AgilitySDK in this case, mandated by use of certain UE5 features), it won't change.

welp, my windows version has been updated to V:22H2 B:19045.4046 Since my cancel processed I will have to try at some point later in the future. Can't say I am supper thrilled about some of the changed M$ made with this update, including forced advertising embedded in my very expensive windows Pro install. That, however, has nothing to do with Nightingale. Just felt the need to ♥♥♥♥♥ about it.

Thanks for trying to help Arc. I hope your day gets better. :)

I fix the same problem by updating the video card driver to latest version.
Try this.

I've run into a similar error on a few games in the past year since purchasing a computer that still outpaces the recommended specs on recently released games. It doesn't matter how good your computer is or whether you've updated your graphics card. As far as I can tell, it's an issue specific to UE5 games and the problem has to do with a specific DLL file that only comes from a specific windows update. "Fixes" are usually pretty complicated and involve downloading a very specific windows update for your current build, or copying and pasting DLL files back and forth across your computer. (I wouldn't recommend this for someone not familiar with computers, and anyone familiar with computers probably knows this is a dangerous game to play. Either way, users should not be expected to do this, or to conduct hours of research just to be able to play a game.)

This is the first time I've actually seen specific windows versions listed in the system requirements for the offending games, so it seems like the devs of this game at least have some understanding of the problem (though I don't think we can necessarily expect it to be fixed).

Like many people, I've seen windows updates destroy far too many computers to play Russian roulette with something I put that much money into, so as frustrating as it is, I've basically just been putting games like this on the list to re-purchase someday in a few years when I buy a new computer. Which does not help anybody here--sorry :( But I figured anyone trying to find answers deserves a response from someone who isn't currently trying to grind a stick as far into their rear orifice as possible and suggesting you do the same.

I agree with all of this.

What the developers could've done at the very least is give a major like warning notice on the store page that reads: "This game requires current windows version, and current graphic drivers in order to run"

If it's under additional notes I'm wondering how many people fell for it and bought the game by accident thinking that they could somehow navigate the problem

Let's not pretend you'd not be here complaining about some other thing (like in case of Marvel's Spider-Man, the very fact that these Windows builds are required, because it has that specific error message) :manthinking:

When there are people responsible enough to face the reality, they get their answer in under 5 replies with 0 fuzz around it.

It's honestly fascinating how people that take zero responsibility in their own actions keep blaming others for their own mistakes.
When you have people that failed to read minspec, failed to read the thread to which they are replying to and for some reason still won't post what was asked for 3 times over, don't blame others for trying to show you the way.

I am hoping someone can help me figure my directx issue out. I am running a Mac and have Bootcamp installed and running on the Windows partition. I am getting the Directx 12 error but not sure how to check if I am compatible to run it. Note* I am running on a mac so I do not have a PC keyboard

Okay, thank you for the quick response. I guess I will have to get a PC in order to play, I have many other games that won't run on Mac I want to play. Time to have a system for both.

Arc. I get that you are having a bit of a hectic day by the sound of it, not need to get snarky. If you read snark in my response that was not intended and I offer an apology.
For video it is GeForce game ready Driver Version 551.52 Release date: 02/13/2024
For windows version, that may actually be my issue. I am digging into that more now.

No Arc is sadly suffering from a lack of proper brain folding.. You can see from his recent posts, he has gone on a binge of ' Learn to computer ' rants.. An how there could be ZERO chance a just launched EA game could have issues.. Its clearly ' you an your computer '.. =)
Well it clearly is in this case.. best scenario is op is running on windows 98.. using dx10 or maybe 11. Or a mac..

This is the problem with all these posts that complain about the game, they don't give any system specs.. then eventually reveal they're trying to play a dx12 game with a brick. A brick running 2024 drivers.. is still a brick.

Was it 9? I can't remember what I used that long ago.. I remember having an dx10 pc and the gpu supported 12 but it didn't early dx12 games were all artifacting etc, so I spent some money, got an R490 or something and everything worked fine. Left it at that. I've had like 5 gpu's since then.. I doubt microsoft will ever update directx.. or that applemacs will ever play games..
