Peaceful Base realm question
So the game lets you look at all the biomes first before you can chose one of them as your realm for a base, which will be a peaceful one. I got to know that afterwards you can create a new realm with the realm cards and then chose that new realm as your main realm for building. Does that realm then change to peaceful mode as well or will it stay hostile?

And is it possible to have multiple bases on multiple realms?

The first realm you choose, the 'respite' realm is not 1000% peaceful but more correctly said as 'generally safer'. There are still Points of Interest with 'bad guys' and critters that will attack. Other realms will be normal levels of hostility unless you move your respite realm. You can set the difficulty on biomes/realms when you open the portals.

Minor biome cards can affect these realms, safer or more dangerous being options, I think. I know at least one card, the Blood Moon card can make them more dangerous for sure.

Thanks for your answer :-)

You are most welcome, Sloth. :)

you can create a realm with similar peaceful as your starter realm, you can always go back.

From what I have read, your respite realm could get a few minor raids. BUT supposedly the raids occur only at night time and when you are at the base. There is apparently a minor card that you could play that makes it daytime with no night. Reading between the lines and some others have reached the same conclusion, that would make your respite totally immune to attacks even minor ones. As they only occur at night. Just an observation of some threads and discussions, not sure if this is 100% correct.

i really hope bases arent 100% safe. defeats any point in building defenses and thus less reason to build. which is not good.

Some of us build just for the joy of building.

But yeah, I get what you’re saying. I would personally prefer to have one place in the world where I can relax and not have to worry about some bloodthirsty monster coming at me.

You can certainly use the minor cards to add difficulty. The Blood Moon card was discussed in another thread (that I can't find atm). Raids are a question mark atm. The respite realm is supposed to be 'mostly safe.' Since everyone more or less sees the respite realm as 'your base', it's worth noting that you can have multiple bases in multiple realms (biomes). Just opena portal and build. Difficultly settings can be adjusted (which is associated with loot, iirc) when you open the portal, Then you have the minor cards that you can play once you are in the new biome.

It will be fun times trying to figure out the best and the deadliest settings, I think. Also noteworthy, I am 99% sure one of the videos showed a cannon. Would you be lugging a cannon to a Point of Interest? The cannon would make me think stuff comes to YOU at least some of the time.

Kind of over-explaining for anyone who clicked the title and hasn't done much research on the game:

You build your Cairn (stack o' rocks) where you want to respawn. One cairn to a customer. Upon death and not being revived by friends or allies, you come back at your Cairn. You can also teleport to your cairn anytime you are not in combat or otherwise engaged. (So, no, you can't teleport away from falling off a cliff)

The base you place around/next to your Cairn would be your respite base, and that realm (A procedurally generated instance of about (currently) 2km x 2km) is your respite realm. You are not required to place a base at your cairn. Not sure why the one place you can get to quickly from anywhere wouldn't be your major base.

There are two cards that are used to generate a realm. Biome cards decide if the landscape will be. Currently the choices are Forest, Swamp or Desert. More Biome cards are planned during Early Access, and are apparently one of the top priorities.

The other card that can be played during realm creation is a 'Major' card.

A Major card called "Abeyance" will generate a very low threat realm. (there are about 50 different Major cards at EA release) In an Abeyance realm there are still POIs and other places that contain enemies and rewards. But wandering mobs should rarely ever attack your base unless you lead them to it. The negative aspect of an Abeyance card is the resources present will all be bottom tier. So, no, you can't get high tier resources easily that way.

So, you can build your cairn in any sort of environment you want. Want a safe respawn? Generate an Abeyance realm and put a fortress around your cairn. Want to live dangerously and respawn potentially in a pack of enemies? Find a high-threat realm and plunk down your cairn somewhere at random with no supporting buildings.

Your cairn. Your base(s). Your realm. Your choices!

... then you go to a place/biom/realm who have "action" and plaese let the peaceful players play in peace ...
what biom would be the best to got a nice peaceful start?

They all have their advantages. I think the 'forest' abeyance/starter is supposed to be the easier of the 3 biomes. Desert - heat. Swamp - some sort of disease. Forest - eh hailstones..no biggie haha

Each biome has a environmental danger. Forests have damaging hail. Swamps have a lot of water to wade thru that make your character wet and may make you sick. Deserts have an overheating issue. (Maybe the desert does other things, I didn't get to one)

Your umbrella will keep the rain, hail and sun-overheat off of you.

As far as I could see, the creature danger is based on the Major card played during realm creation. Play a <biome>/Abeyance card combo and the creature danger should be relatively the same. Which is to say low. That's the purpose of an Abeyance card.

The forest is the most difficult, as it is mountainous and has serious transportation problems. It is strongly recommended that beginners establish their first base in the desert.

Does this mean that you can have, at most, one base or can you build anywhere you want and are only limited to the single easy teleport? I typically play way more often than my friends on these types of games so I would want my base to be on my private realm and then have the option to collaborate on a group base with my friends somewhere else.
