I hope people don't review bomb this game
Just due to the game not having a true offline singleplayer mode.

They should stick to such issues such as poor combat, somewhat suspect graphics and other genuine issues.

Pretty sure there is a 100% chance there will be those types of reviews within an hour or so of the game dropping on steam.

All of the OPs other myriad of posts were: Online = MicroTransaction. Online = fail.
This post would have been more credible without the second line dissing the game yet again.

Too much hype and the game looks fantastic. We can hope for offline mode but I doubt that's going to make the game get review bombed

the game exists so trolls will review bomb it for having the audacity to exist.

it's an early access game so constructive feedback MAY lead to things changing to your requirements. what's going to happen is every single minor nuisance will be blown out of proportion and people will be refunding at 1:59:59 after writing a nonsense review.

there will be people complaining about gender
there will be people complaining that your grandparents can be two of the same gender
there will be people complaining that one of the starting options is you were caught out after floozing around
there will be people complaining that the characters are too ugly
there will be dozens of even dumber reasons

all not realising that those aren't reviews, steam reviews are worthless. airing your complaints is not reviewing.

not to mention reviewing an early access game is pointless. every update should purge old reviews. if you reviewed 7days2die based on alpha4 nobody playing a21 would have a damn clue what you were talking about. steam should actually treat early access like it is, a pre-released build of a potential game. no reviews needed. people should read the discussion section for slightly more nuanced feedback than "not recommend: made a family tree of 8 of the same black guy"

Sigh. So far I haven't seen the 'Woke or not Woke' drivel. It actually drives me off the forums of a game.

And on another note: (Steam I'm looking at you) there should be a positive, negative and NEUTRAL review option. Many's the game that that didn't deserve a thumbs up OR a thumbs down but rather a 'Have to wait and see' review. Or a 'star' rating with one as bad, 5 as good and values in between for less absolute reviews.

Oh well. Unlikely to happen.

And the 'No Offline mode' reviews will happen. My opinion but I'm 99% certain of it. People who said they won't play b/c of no offline will even buy it knowing they can usually return it.

I don't care if a game is in 'Early Access' or is a finished product. I don't speculate like the developers do, I judge a game once and i am only giving the game one chance! If the game is good i give it a thumbs up, if not, it gets a thumbs down!

Good to know.

Here's to hoping the game gets the Golden Seal of Approval.

Why? Would review bombing effect your experience with the game?
xitooner Feb 18, 2024 @ 11:34pm
I cant be bothered to worry about somebody review-bombing a game. Its a despicable practice but also a feature of our times, sadly. Its not like its something "new"; if it happens they will deal with it (freeze the review process for a while, etc). In the meantime I'll play the game or not, based on its merits as I see them.

I'm sure the 500 people in the vocal minority will Bomb it with all their might. Unfortunately drowned by the 99,500 other people who simply do not care.

Helldivers 2 sold millions of copies. Constantly has 500k +players online. And is 100% online only. People who care are a very small sub set of players. I would just ignore them.

This isn't The Day Before where we know basically nothing. I've seen enough gameplay to get an idea of how the gameplay loop goes, what the combat looks like, building, crafting, etc. I'm willing to pre-order this and play it without reading reviews.

Review bombers can suck it

People who need good graphics as a qualifier for fun and "a good game" need to just not play games. Please throw your PC in the dumpster, you are part of the problem.

personally, I think reviews should be turned off till the game hits full release status because too many players will leave a bad review on an early access game just because it doesn't behave and play like a full release. They will claim to understand what EA is, while complaining about unfinished content or clear work in progress zones, or biomes they can't get into.... I can't stand those reviewers

Review bombs don't matter in the long run. If a game is good, it's gonna do well regardless. Take for example Baldur's Gate 3, it didn't matter. Game was too good. Then there's Starfield. It was kind of a funny deal there, review bombing started, there was sort of a counter to that which worked as the game stayed at positive and above and eventually as people played the game they noticed it wasn't that good and the review stats shrunk to negative and below. It's all on the game. If it's quality then the bombing will be inefficient, if it's bad, well, it won't matter since it means the game will have a small player base and that's very bad for an online game.
