Tier 4 and Tier 5 Equipment frustration (why only Tier 3++?)
I'm in the endgame, currently on the mission where I've gotta grab 25 Tier 4 Essence for an NPC, and doing some grinding first for both more of that essence and upgrading my equipment.

Here's my problem, and it's one I THOUGHT would be solved when I got to this point.

I make a Mystic Sword, I use only Tier 5 Orange materials, I have 2 spells, a charm, and infusion on it, AND I've taken it to the upgrade bench so it is now maxxed out. AND I activated the Forge minor Realm Card, just so it could be upgraded even more. (Augmentations around the station were the tier 1 Assassin, Tier 2 Construction for the durability++ and the Tier 1 and Tier 2 magic augmentations because those are the ONLY types of augmentations that apply to swords, as far as I'm aware)

After ALL THAT, What's the mythic swords color and tier?

Blue. Tier 3++. Gear Score 135.

I am supremely frustrated by this, since it was something I was looking forward to for quite a while now, from the first time I made a "Tier 3+ weapon" on the Refined Bench and I went, "Oh, okay, so the "higher tier" equipment is locked behind the Excellent crafting bench and isn't until I get THAT, that I'll be able to make Tier 4 and Tier 5, purple and orange equipment."

The game: "LAWL, NOPE! Guess again, LOSER!"

So, I'm kinda annoyed and trying to figure out what's going wrong.

Material list for the example "3++ Sword" Mystic Sword I made. (again, that I've sunk enough tier 4 essence into at the Upgrade Bench to make it "Epic" tier)

Pellucidic
Noble Bismaltus
Noble Hollow
Star Ruby
Marble

Probably not an OPTIMAL set-up for a sword, but it's four Tier 5 Orange materials and a SINGLE Tier 3 Blue Material because a cut gemstone requires mixing with stone (and I can't find ANYTHING on if Tier 4 or Tier 5 stones EVEN EXIST).

At this point it feels like the logical explanation (with the information I have available) is that using even a SINGLE Tier 3 material was enough for the game to say, "Oh, so SORRY, we can't REALLY consider that equipment to be Tier 5, how SAD for you!" and that's understandable frustrating since the lack of Tier 4 or Tier 5 stone means it feels like my arm is being twisted by it.

Again, this isn't about the stats (necessarily, unless the "base tier" is messing with those too...) but purely about why it's still considered "Tier 3" when it sure as hell should be considered better than THAT, with all the materials and upgrades I've slapped on it.

(oh sure, I get Tier 4 headwraps as a random quest reward, but can I make Tier 4 headwraps myself? No!)

Just to get to understand your problem.
You say the stats of the sword are ok and equivalent to what you would expect from a tier 4 or 5 sword as you used tier 4 and 5 material.
The fact you get so angry about is that while it looks and feels and works like a tier 4/5 sword it is named a tier 3++ sword?
Is this your point? Is just the label your frustration...🤔
If so get over it, it's just a label.
If after all your efforts and used tier 4,5 materials it has only the stats of a tier 3 or only slightly better sword than yes it's a problem.

Fair point however with the introduction of colourising gear tiles the Devs have caused this buy leaving the visual impression that you upper level gear at "Blue" level is substandard for that level of play.

The solutions is very easy (therefor unlike this shower will do it) Add T4 Purple and T5 Gold recipes to the trader in the watch/nightingale when it arrives. We have the poor old lass with only the Porter Pistol to sell right now give her the rest of the T4 purples recipes for weapons and problems solved.

In my opinion, the reason is that the creators have lowered the rank of weapons to make it more difficult to fight bosses. For example, Einadia gave 30% Ranged Damage, now it gives 12%. Therefore, there are no high - rank weapons. This has led to the bow being more effective than a rifle.

Which historically it was up until the psudo time of the Game. During the Napoleonic Wars, the Duke of Wellington asked for a Corps of Longbows to provide rapid fire support for his Army. He was informed that no such body of men existed anymore.

Longbows etc should require -a lot- more skill than they do to allow for their effectiveness. Firearms are easier to train on compared to bows, not more powerful.

So the issue is that because all the "Ornate", "Dauntless", and "Mythic" quality stuff is "Tier 3", they'll show up as being "Tier 3" with a few + signs when they actually TECHNICALLY are the late-game gear. At least at this point.

Alright, I understand that just fine, thanks for answering my question. The lion's share of my frustration was thinking there was some kind of super-easy solution that I wasn't finding to why my equipment was still "technically" mid-game items, they were just souped-up versions of those items rather than REAL end-game equipment.

So that means the stuff I make using the recipes I bought with Tier 4 Essence are going to show up as Purple/tier 4, even if I use the most garbage-quality ingredients, instead of having a color indicator based the materials used in the recipe.

Yes, if you craft a tier 4 item even if you use tier 1 prey, tier 1 fiber or something like that the item itself is tier 4 so that doesnt change(Only stats), and having a color indicator based on the materials used make no sense since you can have like 5-6 or idk if even more different materials for 1 craft, if thats the case bassically you want to have a rainbow based item backround and depending on how many materials the item is cappable of use is a bigger or smaller rainbow with the colors of the tiers you used, i dont see a point on doing that, too much work for nothing useful

Edit: Nothing useful cause you already have an option to see the materials u used on your item apart from the difference on stats with the base item, i mean, the "bad" thing you dont want is that item backround color, cause when or if they add higher tiers items you dont gonna complain cause that ones are different colors you like more even if they have less stats if you used tier 1 materials

I sub this.

If I use T4 and higher materials, I should receive a T4 item.
Getting a T3++ makes me think I did something wrong.

Or as it is now, I for one currently lack T4 Gems and Woods, because I only have a GS50 Tool atm. meaning, the question is, if I use T3 Gems/Wood, and get a T3++, and if I use all T4 ressources and get a T3++, is there a significant difference? And if so, what's the point of them being T4 ressources? They should just be named T3+/T3++ just like the items we receive....

It's the scematics that determine tier right now, the materials only determine the stats of the finished product.

There are no tier 4 or 5 schemata: because the game is in early access. Wait for an update and see what happens.

Yea, but it's strange, because the ressources do define the Grade of Materials used for crafting. This makes it just more weird.
"It's the scematics that determine tier right now" That's always been the case, it's just that color used to be tied to upgrade (gey = commun, green = uncommon, blue = rare, and purple = epic) but now the icon color is tied to the tier and the upgrade is indicated by chevrons on the icon. (and the tiers have changed with the RR update.)

Yeah, this has been like this the whole time since Early Access release, the only thing that changed is that items now have a color associated with their tier so you can tell more easily what tier an item belongs to without needing to check manually each item.

If you dont want this QoL just cause we dont have T5 weapons yet for you to see that color idk what to tell you, come back when the game have that weapons

Just to let everyone know. I played this game from Day 1 of release. I'm not here to argue with anyone, But there was Purple Epic gear you can craft and upgrade to Purple I did it all the time. Also I have 2 Characters I've had from day 1 and they both are decked out in Purple gear I crafted. There are many YouTube videos showing how to do this also, BUT something has changed the Devs must of removed that option to upgrade to Purple Epic. I just came back to play again after the major updated and to get to Nightingale city. I used my original character which EVERYTHING was Purple. I was having some issues (Found out it was my problem), But I started a new Character and that's when I realized Purple Epic Gear was not craft able anymore. I can craft the high gear score and have about the same stats so my guess is they removed the color to match the gear score of the blueprint? Not sure I'll have to fire up the game again with my original character and see if there is anything on my purple gear that says Tier 3. So to everyone that used to be able to craft purple gear.... You can't upgrade it to purple anymore.
Ok I Loaded my other 2 characters they have all Purple Epic gear I crafted. All of the gear shows Tier 4. When I go into the sewing machine the same gear shows up as Tier 3. Not sure if that's the way it was when I first crafted everything... So I really can't say, but when I did craft the gear it was Blue gear and I upgraded everything the Epic Purple.

Yeah, as sirium said, the color of gear doesn't change when you upgrade it anymore. it's tied to the tier of the original recipe.

There's a LOT of outdated information out there now. Videos, guides, etc that are all from the launch version, NOT the realms rebuilt version.

Just and FYI. The Western Outfit will craft as Epic and a Dress will also there might be more, But those show up as Tier 4 in crafting. I just crafted the entire western outfit and all came out as Tier 4 Epic and was able to upgrade them on the table to 117 gear score. I would go through the crafting list and find the Tier 4 outfit items.
