it all requires a good look over once more.

Here I thought before the big patch that Gazpacho, Beef Wellington, and Sashimi were going to be the best.

Now that things have changed drastically and I'm looking into Stamina food, I may very well end up going with Captain's Plate (Heath Pupfish), Barberry Vegetable Medley, and Barberry Salad. These are what I have on hand for a good Stamina boost atm. I need to go fishing for more Pupfish and I'll rework the Salad and Veggie Medley depending upon what else I can find for ingredients that provide more Stamina.

It's really going to be what you want your food to do. Do you want Maximum Health and Stealth? Stamina and Health Regen? Stamina only? A bit of Health, Stamina, and Resistance?

Until some enterprising individual decides to break it all down with a spread sheet and a youtube video going over all the changes, you'll need to start formulating a plan and researching it yourself I'm afraid. That's what I'm doing.

Hot tip, with stamina it is wise to set up your gear not just for stam but for stam regen. Just stamina is problematic as when you're out, you're out but if you build in lots of regen you wont find yourself standing there waiting for the bar to refill as you are being gently punted into dust. A bit the same for health. If there's nothing coming into the pool it's a bad choice. Gear, buffs, food, all needs regen if you can find it. And of course all the foods have changed too. Am starting a new toon and already see they have messed with it pretty strongly. Since hit boxes are still goofy I seem to be using up a lot of stam swinging through enemies with no contact as far as game goes. Melee is going to be interesting.

I never found food to be any practical use at all. Not in any advantageous way at least.
It's only purpose is to stop you starving and getting debuffed.
It simply does not provide any usable amount of anything to warrant it's production time/costs. Far better off trying to build what you hope to achieve from food into your gear. At least that never disappears at the worst possible time. Relying on food can kill you if the only reason your character is viable is with that food. Make a viable character and then take anything food gives as a boost but never count on it. Not unless it gets an auto-consume or they extend the duration to something longer than a Chinese Restaurant meal. I mean like 3 or 6 hours real time and not 12 minutes or whatever you get now. Pitiful. Of course the longer meals should take more effort and resources to craft but 12 minutes is a joke.

Since you don't even seem to know how long food lasts or its value, it's good there's another way for you to play. But you might even do better with it but you do indeed have to be aware of when it drops off and how it helps you. Most of us are used to games where food is crucial so it's not a problem.

All things considered, fishing is a real PITA. Even with the Angler card running, it's 2 fish per catch, and you have to compete with Prismatic Pupfish, which have no Stamina on them.

With the amounts I need to catch, and I'd like to have a considerable amount of food stockpiled, it will take hundreds of hours of fishing/recasting to have the amount of fish I need for the stockpile I want. Not to mention that somewhere down the road the stats may change again and could ruin all the hard work.

I think I'm going to have to choose something other than the Captain's Plate. I think the Stam Regeneration idea is a better choice for that 3rd food instead.
