Why doesn't ESC work to get out of inventory/crafting/storage menus? What the heck??

I use ESC all the time to exit inventory and storage. Not sure what's wrong on your end.

Its a bug, mine broke tonight, restart the game and it should work again.

Interesting. Scared to restart since it takes a while for entire party to get into server.

I can confirm that sometimes, ESC will stop working altogether. I've also had the F key do the same thing.

There's actually quite a lot of bugs in this game, usually very subtle so you don't notice it until it annoys you when it stops working.

I made a axepick and was trying to use it to dig in a swamp gloom ruins and notice the pick's right click attacks doesn't work inside the building, nor does the axe side's 3rd hit as it's a vertical hit... Then I noticed my pistol also don't work inside the building, the spider didn't get shot when I shoot it... So then I had to lure the mob outside because it was glitched inside.

I've just done the tutorial and already had two bugs. When I built the stick hut it wouldn't let me back out to build the hut and I was stuck until I died which then I could respawn and come back to build the hut.

Next bug, the first time I went to chop a tree the axe wouldn't do it, the green chop symbol came up but nothing would happen. This game doesn't seem ready to me - I'm a bit worried as myself and 5 other friends want to play together.

If you have disconnected from server then ESC stops working until you exit to desktop and reload.
I disconnect 5+ times a night to the starting screen but if i quit and go back in ESC continues to work.

It's server issues. If you use Oboron's Bounty spell on your axe and chop a tree, your game freezes for 5-10 seconds, if not then the server freezes as your client tries to keep up, as the game rubberbands you back to the spot.

If you have lv200+ axe and you chop trees down super fast, you can freeze the server on you.

This explains why I also thought esc didn't close UI elements. Thank you.

Seems 90% of the time I walk through a portal I get booted.

I wouldn't even know about Oboron's Bounty spell. I've just started the game so my axe is the starting axe.

Good intel. There've been so many bugs that when this happens (frequently) I never took the time to trouble shoot it. Pretty ridiculous actually. I thought it was somehow using a controller setup without a controller. I'm curious what a dev would say to this mess of a game because much of these "bugs" appear to be coding issues that games from the 90's have sorted out LOL
